Porsche dealership = Snobby, lazy and couldn't test drive the Macan
Mercedes dealership = Very friendly, helpful and I got to test drive the GLC43 AMG.
Overall I'll take the GLC43

Agree. Price out a Macan and and a GLC and you will see what a bargain a GLC is. Plus I think it is a better looking car.

If I'm going to a track day session....I've got a lot better hardware than a SUV to thrash around there.....The Macan might handle better but, I'll bet tracking it would destroy tires worse than my Audi RS4 did.....about 8-10K miles per set. I was sold on the GLC43 because of its efficient use of space....interior on a GLC is far better than a Macan.

If it wasn't for the Macan being slightly smaller in the back row, and in the boot, we likely would have gone for the Macan. Despite being a GLC43 owner I do think the Macan looks better, drives/handles better (but we are talking about who is better than fantastic already so no looser there), has a nicer dashboard without resorting to that big rimmed iPad. But is also considerably more expensive.
If I knew then what I knew now with the Mercedes GLC crabbing issue for RHD vehicles it would have been between the F-Pace and the Macan, and I would have walked a mile away from the Mercedes.
I mean come on, when the sales person hands you a waiver to sign when you buy your car that it may jump/skip/crab etc, no sane person would still buy one would they?

Mr Insane here Dejongj, all subjective regarding looks, one of the reasons I didn't consider the Macan is that in my opinion it looks absolutely awful and I also like the look of running boards on the GLC, each to their own.

That's correct Dejongj, have been told my dealer group aren't asking customers to sign a disclaimer. Will let you know what happens in a couple of weeks.

It was down to these exact models for us. The looks, pricing, rear seat spaciousness, and cargo area won it over for us. Also I liked the power more on the GLC43.
I did think the Macans interior was more upscale and it handled better, and had better suspension characteristics driving around town.

What makes me go for the GLC43 coupe , when I went to Porsche dealer they were unfriendly and they didn't want to help. I felt like I'm asking for a favour just to see the car. On the other hand when I went to Mercedes I was able to test drive the GLC43 without any appointment and staff were friendly.

Porsche Silverstone were very professional, friendly and helpful. They lent me a Macan on demo overnight. The Mrs said, you're not having a mid-life crisis, your having an end of life crisis. So I settled for a GLC as a sensible choice. But who wants to be sensible?

You've got to love a "better half"......my wife looked over at me sitting inside the Macan and said...."We are NOT Porsche People"......end of discussion.
