Running a C4 Star-DAS/Xentry on w220...Advice?
So I bit the bullet and purchased a Star C4 w/ Xentry/DAS 7/2011.
Got the external hard drive and after much futzing around with the USB>Serial connecton, have it up and running throuh Virtual Machine with no issues.
So far I've plugged it into my S600, read/cleared most of the codes, and verified that I've still got a P0410 "secondary air" issue. Reset all the transmission learning, eliminated the speed sensitive volume adjust, and increased the A/C blower voltage slightly so it blows slightly harder at all settings. I even got it to RODEO so I could purge the hydraulic lines from when I have a line burst a couple weeks ago (neighbors walking by were pretty suprised to see it dancing around as it cycled through). Bottom line...**Really cool stuff** (I should have got this unit years ago...just for the diagnostics alone).
So anyway, after multiple searches, I stumbled across the thread on this forum with some "how to's" on adjusting ride height, alarm activation signal, and removing the speed limiter (ironic that the S600 is forcefully crippled at 130...yes I've verified it). The problem is that the examples shown are for the W211 and the menu selections or options don't exactly correspond to the W220 menus.
Now I'm a smart cookie and did my best to find the equivalent menus that I had available, but to no avail. For instance, I figured out how to lower the vehicle, but I don't have the proper angles to save (the ones used in the example are for the W211 and don't coorelate to the W220).
Also, the example showed how to change the alarm control to "USA w/ Buzzer" that option was not available to me.
I've dug through a lot of the menus, but I'll admit, I'm afraid to screw around with to too much for fear of really screwing things up.
So my quesiton: Anyone used their Star DAS on their W220 to specifically:
1) remove limiter
2) lower the suspension (there are three settings...@low, @medium, and @high speed) and settings including angles (ABC)
3) activate the beep when arming/disarming the alarm
4) activate the "lights on" warning chime
5) activate fog lamps on auto
6) activate display of fuel level remaining in tank
7) any other "cool" things to consider doing
If so, would you be willing to share which modules, steps, and settings used to accomplish it? I've got a W220 S600 and an W211 E500-4matic, so I'll take both, but I'm primarily concerned w/ the S600.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, nobody answered you, either they don't know or the answer is already in the forum, in the case of the former I have just got Xentry myself and would be interested in these answers too, I will certainly have a look on mine & see if I can figure it out.

For the record, I'm all for a DAS/Xentry thread sticky as well.
To update from back then,
1) You need the developer key to recode the ECU to increase the limiter. Did this, but haven't had a time or place to see if it actually removed it.
2) Found under suspension settings how to RODEO the car as well as reset the load, and change the height, but don't know enough about the angle settings to try to lock it in.
3) I found the CGW regional settings could be changed to "Netherlands" to enable the alarm to audibly beep, but found it so annoying I changed it back.
4) This one kills me (about every other month I open my garage to a car with a dead battery). I cannot find a setting to make an audible "lights are on" alarm (so I leave it in "auto" but I can't run foglamps in "auto").
5) See #4, I could not find a way to make the fogs turn on with the lights in "auto" setting.
6) There is no way I can find to make the fuel level display differently on my model/year.
7) -Changed the region to "warm regions" to enable the engine cooling fan to activate sooner. No discernable difference though.
-Tried changing the CGW to "Rest of World", but couldn't detect any benefit, so I changed it back to USA.
Since then, the hard drive my software was on (I was running 7/2011) corrupted w/ bad sectors, so I'm dead in the water until I either purchase or find another image to put on a new HD. Cheers!

One of the suggestions is to clone the drive as soon as you get it, so that you can recover after a drive crash.
Based upon my research and experience, I recommend getting an eBay IBM T30 laptop, bringing it up to speed with 2GB of memory and a new battery (about $150 with careful shopping), and getting the DAS on a T30 hard drive. I don't like dealing with VM...
One of the S430 expert techs on the forums lives and works in China, and uses the DAS systems. He recommended buying from one of the many vendors in Shenzhen. We bought from Advanced E-Auto Tech CO., Ltd. The equipment provided appears to be very well made, and so far has worked very well.

Welcome to the club! Me too unfortuneatly bought the external HD version, that I NEVER got going on my Toshiba laptop. Bought a cheap T30, but I have to run the VM T30 on or inside a T30, a real drag!!!!
BUT: Fortunatly I backed up the whole HD, so if you are hard up, I could maybe help you, but 60-70gb is a lot! PM required - we are getting off forum lines here.
Wallyp: if you could send me the link to your Shenzen supplier, I will buy a T30 HD!

Like everyone on this thread, I recently picked up a Star DAS. BTW, got mine from Shardul and it worked perfectly out of the box. But I am hoping to get this thread back to Marktan's original queries. For me, specifically numbers 2 & 3. Like Sector suggests, folks on MBWorld generally do not respond if the info/data is out there. And the knowledge is here, but doing a search gives a bazillion responses, many of them getting off topic after half a dozen posts. Learning anything at this pace is mind-numbingly frustrating and boring. So, I do not mind being the guinea pig on the suspension lowering (W220 S55) and can write up a step-by-step, but I need a starting point. I have read (somewhere) that lowering an ABC suspension has to go in 1/8" increments. OK, how do I get to that point? Anyone?
Cheers,
Cheers,

Speed limiter removal/change is very easy. You will need need developer mode and understand at least some German. Just go into the ECU. Look for "Geschwindigkeit" about halfway down the page. Click on the box and select whatever option you wish.

(Aside from the other km/h values). While those are obvious, Any idea what the matrix value means/does?

Allegedly, there should be a box where you can type in a speed limiter of your choosing.... That setting is related to "VMAX" in the DAS developer mode (which I have yet to track down).
Edit: found this on another forum:
"You just need to go to ME 2.8 AMG and then devdata - control unit adaptation -variant coding - implizite codierung...
You scroll down to code Number "0224" and then pick up in the list the right "Fahrzeug Code, Vmax = XXX km/h"."

I do not, unfortunately. It's just a matter of taking the laptop with during the next dyno session. Currently, the car is at the 250kph limiter (up from US spec 210kph).

Time to whip out the star from Attic.

What you'll be looking for first off, is in the ECU coding. It will say "Geschwindigkeitslimit." Click on it, then select the 250kph option.

Very happy with it. He recommended a guy in China who sells the multiplexer and cables for like $220 with free shipping; it took them 3 days to get it to DHL after printing the shipping label, and then it arrived in 2 days.
