I saw a short wheel based S-class in Vegas this weekend at the Belagio Hotel. It looked really odd to say the least. No idea how it got in but it had Nevada plates

It's funny...
Over here in the UK, I find it weird to see a LWB S-Class.
I mainly see SWB S-Classes with the LWB being used for businessmen etc up in the city.
LWB are called Limos as I guess thats what they look like, to me 8-)

With Jaguar, Audi, and BMW having both SWB and LWB versions of their flagship sedans in the US, I think MB is remiss not to bring over a SWB S-class. (I actually didn't realize they made one before reading this thread...) I think plenty of people would go for them. I know my dad would be happy to get a SWB S430 4matic, for one. A SWB S430 would become the top-selling S-class model, for sure. Probably take a good amount of market share from those buying the 745i, too.

The short (standard ) wheelbase S Class is sold in Canada. It is about $7500 less than the long wheelbase. If sold in the U.S., I would have purchased that model, however MBUSA deprives us of the choice.

Thought I'd bump this and save the grief on starting thread on an existing subject...anyone else find the SWB really odd looking?
My father had an LWB S500 when I lived in the UK but they were much more unusual than the SWB. The latter weren't any bigger in the back than an E Class. IIRC it was around £5000 extra for the LWB.

And yes, the SWB S has no more rear seat legroom than an E, but the level of luxury and technology for the driver and passengers is still a slight cut above, IMO.

^^ That's a funky looking picture, makes the car look really odd...
Here are some pictures of a SWB S55 AMG, I wish you could get the SWB in the US... this thing looks so much sportier and cooler:
