Engine Mounts diy
Hello I would like to installed new engine mounts on my 06 CLS55 and wanted to know if you need to remove the engine or just remove the front cross member ? I checked out there and I didn't find a diy? I need to replace my broken mounts any help would be appreciated.

Just did mine. you need to lift the motor, while the car is on a hoist. As well as undo both side sway bar bolts which are a large allen key. So you can pivot the sway bar down and pop the engine mounts in. Driver side is the harder one.

Yes,
First loosen motor mounts, bottom and top, take off the heat shield on the top.
Then Undo the sway bar on both sides (Big Hex key needed)
Jack up the motor, first pull the passenger one out its easiest,
jack up the motor a bit more to get the driver side out, it helps to have 2 people as one has to pull down on the sway bar to turn it to allow the mounts out.
You don't need a lift you could put the car on 4 jack stands and then use a jack to lift the motor but a lot easier on a lift.

Mercedes CLS55 AMG
Hi,
Had my engine and gearbox mounts replaced recently on my CLS55 (RHD), removed no suspension components just supported the weight of the engine, removed the fixing bolts to the steering rack, and lowered it slightly.
Both mounts can be unbolted from position and one could be removed from the car completely, with the rack mountings removed gave a little more clearance to enable the other mount to be removed.
Obviously this could be different on a LHD car but still worth considering as they are very tight to get in/out of position.
