The New AMG GT R Has Arrived! Pricing and Specs Announced
Mercedes-Benz has released critical info about the brand new AMG GT R. The top headlines: it’ll start at £143,245, which is just shy of $180,000 here in the U.S. of A. Compared to what you get on the GT, the R has swollen arches, 46 mm up front and 57 mm out back, plus a host of other weight-saving materials.
The engine has been re-worked, too, with horsepower ratings greater by 74 ponies, and twisting force upped by 37 lb/ft. Top speed is 198, and 0-60 is now settled in 3.6 seconds. That’s done with new, higher-pressure turbos. Other mechanical tinkerings include a lightened flywheel and adjusted gear ratios.
You can still layer on the options if the standard fare doesn’t excite you much. The color you see here, bravely named “AMG Green Hell Mango,” is even more bravely priced at over $9,000. A Premium package can be included at a tick over five-grand, which will get you heated seats. Or, if you’re going to get in touch with the car’s racing heritage, the Track package sets you back about $2,115. That includes a roll cage, and a harness, and seems a much better value than a shade of green. As usual with AMG products, carbon ceramic brakes are available at eye-watering costs.
