Green-on-Green AMG E60 Wagon Looks Better Than You Think

AMG E60 Wagon

All-green trim for an AMG wagon was a bit wild for the early ’90s. So was a 6.0-liter V8.

There’s a few combinations we really like at MBWorld. Big V8s in wagons most likely tops the list, and who better to make a wild V8 wagon in the early ’90s than AMG? That’s exactly what this 1991 AMG E60 wagon from German Cars For Sale Blog offers. Rather than being built by any of the AMG subsidiary locations, this one came straight from Affalterbach. Lets take a closer look.

Power to the rear wheels is supplied by the M119 V8, with this displacement punched to a full 6.0 liters. Power levels were supercar level, at 371, which had to be a surprise to many in 1991. To handle the heavy-duty requirements, an upgraded rear differential is in place, supplemented by AMG self leveling suspension. Other AMG goodies include an exhaust, and full leather interior, which is extremely green.

What we like best is how this AMG E60 exemplifies the theory of “they don’t build them like they used to.” Big V8 AMG models went extinct before the AMG V12 models, so we cherish cars like these just a little bit more, since you know, “built like a tank” could definitely apply here. You know who else cherished it? The previous owner. It has racked up an astonishing 245,000 miles, and still looks astonishing. That could be due in part to being serviced directly by AMG for the majority of its life, and then by a Mercedes-Benz AMG workshop for the later part.

If you never saw the odometer, you’d never guess the mileage, but that’s why we love these old AMG models, regardless if they came from Affalterbach, AMG North America or AMG Japan.
