560 SEC 6.0 AMG

Two-piece wheels, 400 HP, widebody, and a timeless aesthetic is what makes the 560 SEC unforgettable.

There are few cars that exist that when you see them, your first instinct is to stop whatever you are doing completely and then proceed to devote all your attention to that vehicle. We have to say that this 560 SEC AMG 6.0 widebody is exactly that. From every angle, every proportion, every detail about the car is immaculate. It screams for attention in the subtlest of ways. It knows you are looking at it and it doesn’t even care. It knows it looks that good.

You might be thinking, wow, what is this car all about? Well, thanks to a recent auction by Sotheby’s, we are able to get a little bit more insight into the special heart of this unique 560.

560 SEC 6.0 AMG

To start, we must remind you that this is not just any old AMG, this car is rare and we mean it: only around 50 of these were produced. Back in the ’90s, AMG wasn’t yet officially part of Mercedes, so this 1991 model is technically a tuner car. However, the execution of the modification of this vehicle is so cleanly executed, not a single person wouldn’t believe this was a factory product.

The modifications include nearly replacing every single body panel to make way for the extra width this SEC carries, complimented beautifully by its two-piece forged AMG wheels. Not mention subtle improves to the interior as well. However, the real deal upgrade made to this crazy AMG was the bored out 6.0-liter V8 making 400 HP.

In the grand scheme of things you might say that 400 HP isn’t very much power and you’d probably be right. However, this car is not so much about going fast, but rather, the way in which you do it. It’s about style and finesse over outright performance. In this case, we believe that we wouldn’t have it any other way.

So we have boasted about this car for the last couple paragraphs and now you’re in love. Well, be prepared to have deep pockets. This specific SEC sold for €297,500 at RM Sotheby’s Auction House this week. We wish these cars were a little bit more attainable financially, but we understand the price because of the rarity and awesomeness. To whoever just bought that amazing AMG, cheers, looks like your in for an amazing ride.
