1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE Wagon Has Us Green With Envy

This well-preserved classic 300TE has plenty of life left, and plenty for a new owner to love.

It’s no secret that we love wagons here at MBWorld. The simple, uncompromising utility of a station wagon is nearly faultless. If you love driving, and you have a lot of people and stuff to haul around, it’s hard to beat a station wagon.

The wagon often offers something to love for rare car fans, too. The station wagon version of a given car is invariably rarer than the sedan, coupe, or convertible, especially in the United States. Combine the station wagon body with a rare color combination and some unusual options, and you have a truly special car indeed.

Such is the case with this 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300TE seen on BringATrailer. The two-tone green paint may be polarizing to some, but we love it. It really makes this unusual car pop out even more. You certainly won’t lose it in a parking lot.

As stated in the ad, the single windshield wiper and asymmetrical mirrors add quite a bit of quirky charm to this stately old wagon. However, one shouldn’t expect the bad sort of quirks. With under 75k miles, and just one owner until last year, there shouldn’t be any unfortunate surprises for the next lucky owner.

Apparently the car drives well, and everything works as it should. If so, it’d be an ideal three-season daily driver for antiquing fans, upright bass players, or parents of large families who want to raise their kids right.

If you’re in the latter group, it should be noted that those rear-facing third row seats might not be the safest place to put your little bundles of joy, despite the tank-like reputation these older Mercedes-Benzes continue to enjoy.
