2019 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Production is Now Underway

First batch of 2019 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe models set to hit European showrooms in October, U.S. early next year.

Ever since Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT 4-Door Coupe at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show last March, many GT fans has been waiting patiently to get their hands around the wheel of one, especially those with children. It’s one thing to swing a GT around the track with your loved one sitting shotgun, but if you have little ones, too, well, how will they experience the sheer joy and madness of one of AMG’s greatest hits?

It’s been a long time coming, but the wait will soon be over. According to Roadshow, production of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is now underway in Sindelfingen, Germany.

Europeans will be the first to receive their AMG GT 4-Door Coupes, when the four-door coupe lands in showrooms in October. Those of us in the United States will have to wait a while longer, as the car is not expected to make the trek across the Atlantic until early next year. You won’t be disappointed with what does arrive from the port, though, as the GT 63 and GT 63 S will roar off into your garages before the mild-mannered GT 53 comes over in the middle of 2019.

As it turns out, though, Motor Authority says there will be yet another model joining the 4-Door Coupe lineup, this one dubbed the GT 43. The new GT 43 has a new electric-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six good for 362 horses and 368 lb-ft of torque to all corners, while the EQ Boost hybrid system adds an extra 21 ponies and 184 lb-ft of torque when needed. AMG says the GT 43 can go from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 168 mph.

It’s definitely a great time to be a Mercedes fan right now. We can’t wait to start seeing the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe on our highways.
