Mercedes-AMG GT R on Vossen EVO-2Rs

Customized by TOYZ autoart, matte black AMG GT R receives expensive set of Vossen EVO-2R wheels in Satin Black, stars in Vossen promo vid.

There’s nothing like the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The roadster knocks out the competition with a twin-turbo, handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 ramming down 577 horses all over the track. And cornering is a breeze thanks to its sport suspension with active rear-wheel steering. Plus, the Airscarf feature keeps your neck warm with the top down and the cool morning breeze rushing overhead. The GT R is quite the car.

Thus, only the right set of aftermarket wheels will do. Autoevolution found such an example recently, shod in Vossen EVO-2Rs. Let’s learn more about this particular GT R, and why it has the wheels it has.

Customized in Laval, Quebec by TOYZ autoart, the GT R wears a matte black wrap over its body. Otherwise, not much else has changed. Not much, except for the wheels. Instead of what Affalterbach offers from the factory, TOYZ autoart swapped out the stock wheels for Vossen EVO-2Rs. Dipped in Satin Black, the AMG features 19s up front, 20s in the rear, all shod in Pirelli P-Zeroes.

Vossen’s EVO-2R wheels are not your cheap Walmart units, to say the least. Monoblock versions start at $2,200, while three-piece models begin at $2,600. Sizes range from 19 to 24 inches, with 48 colors available. That’s right: 48 colors. You can match your rims to your own GT R’s color. This set of four comes to a total of $9,400, according to Autoevolution. That’s $2,300 for the front pair, $2,400 for the rear.

Of course, when you have a showcase like the GT R, you’ll want to take it out for a drive. Thus, Vossen filmed a short video for their YouTube channel through a quiet neighborhood with lots of green trees and nice homes to cruise on by. It didn’t stay quiet, though; hard to be quiet with a twin-turbo V8 sputtering and roaring, after all. The photo ops near the lake are a nice touch, too, demonstrating the quiet confidence the AMG possesses.

We have to say Vossen chose the right ride to show off their newest set of wheels.
