AMG ONE Buyers Get Special Invite-only Preview of their New Ride
Now that the cat is out of the bag, some of the official stats seem straight out of a video game.
AMG finally pulled the wraps off its not-so-secret Formula 1 tech-filled supercar recently. While all of the buzz is about the car’s name simply being “AMG ONE,” we’re interested in what happens if you were one of the few selected to be a worthy owner of the car. Thankfully, Motor1 caught some insider action.
One entrepreneur to place a deposit on the $2,700,000 car was Manny Khoshbin. For the rest of us drooling over the car via computer screens, he was able to see it in person, and decided to share a little bit about the process. At least, what AMG will allow him to share.
Khoshbin was flown to Munich, Germany for the reveal with a few other future AMG ONE owners. Those owners are given special info and access to the car and the car’s stats, only adding to the sense of occasion for such a groundbreaking car. AMG did allow limited social media content, meaning we get to see pictures and video of what appears to be the production-ready model. Check out those pictures below.
Remember, this car was only a concept not long ago. Top Gear said almost one year ago to the day, “It wonโt by the way, be called Project One for production. This is still officially a concept because itโs not ready for homologation.”
Now that the cat is out of the bag, some of the official stats are straight out of a video game, too. Weight will be under 3100 lbs, “more than” 1000 horsepower. Times to 100kmh (62mph) are less than 2.6 seconds, and 200kmh (~125mph) is dealt with in 6 seconds or less. It’s also a plug-in hybrid with an all-electric range, albeit minimal at 15 miles. But it’s attached to a “Formula 1 power train” capable of 11,000 RPM. Yes, that’s eleven thousand RPM.
As well, AMG had a neat configurator to display all the color options you could ever want for your new hypercar. Our guess is that you can have any color you like, but at least the ones programmed on this app would give some idea of what the car’s curves look like in different shades. The touch screen allows Khoshbin to rotate the car and see how all the colors look from any angle.
AMG also seemed to be pretty generous to allow clients like Khoshbin to take a wide variety of photos of the car, including being able to climb in the cockpit, too, try it on for size and take a look at how the AMG ONE specific MBUX infotainment system will display all the car’s vitals.
Make sure to click all the way through the pictures on this one to witness something historical in the making. The signing of official paperwork to purchase an AMG ONE!
