With China’s market growing by leaps and bounds, almost every automaker is rushing to debut all of their new models at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. Everything from the Ford GT to the weird Chevy FNR concept have been shown there. However, for the oddest story to come out of the auto show, look no further than Mercedes-Benz.

This year, Mercedes showed up with the Brabus version of the G63 6×6 AMG, the B63S-700 6×6. Now, that’s not really what most would consider news. This next part is, though. In China, the Brabus B63S-700 is considered a commercial vehicle. As such, special laws govern it. For instance, such vehicles must wear reflective tape around their outermost edges. Given the 6×6’s designation, its access to large cities and urban areas, including Shanghai, is restricted.

That means that in order for Mercedes and Brabus to bring the monstrously cool 6×6 into Shanghai, they had to use a tow truck. This truly all-terrain vehicle had to be hauled in like some broken-down jalopy. Oh yeah – one last thing: the Brabus G63 6×6 costs $1.6 million in China.
