The Annoyance of A Fake AMG

We’ve all seen it. The fake AMG badge on the back of a car. You don’t even have to own an AMG in order to get a slight whiff of poser from this automotive crime. Who do they think they’re fooling? Not us, that’s for damn sure. And yet there are still those certain people that think they are impressing someone.

It all got me thinking about AMG’s new “sport” line, and how some are saying it’s not really an authentic way into AMG ownership, including myself. Mercedes’ flagrant decision to come up with the AMG Sport line is, in my opinion, a fancy way of saying the AMG appearance package. Granted, when my C209 AMG came out, the CLK350 and CLK55 looked almost near identical, apart from very, very small styling cues.

While the AMG Sport line gets phased in, and we get to worry about a whole slew of additional phony AMG models, we can rest assure that our forum members are on the lookout. This hilarious thread, which shames fake AMG badges, is a great way to occupy some of your time, and get a better idea about why we don’t particularly like it when something is pretending to be something it’s not.
