If you’ve seen some of our more recent posts about the Mercedes AMGs of London, then you’re familiar with the idea that they’ve been causing a bit of a ruckus. The owners of those cars–as well as other able automobiles–have been doing burnouts, revving, setting off car alarms, and generally causing mayhem for normal pedestrians. Our kind of people. Yet, now it’s looking like London is finally fighting back.

According to AutoEvolution who spoke with the local authorities, the government has put in place a new law called the Public Spaces Protection Order around the area where most of the occurrences have been happening. In essence, the PSPO law dictates that anyone revving their engine higher than necessary, accelerating rapidly, racing, or performing stunts can be fined up to $1,500.

While a drop in the bucket compared to the price of many AMGs and other supercars, like the Pagani Zonda or Huayra, it’s still a hefty fine for something rather innocent as revving your engine. What do you all think? Could U.S. authorities get away with something like this?
