Crossovers and compacts aren’t the only things that are trending in the world of cars these days.

It appears that pickups are picking up steam as well, with Mercedes-Benz now testing out their own entry into the segment. Known as the GLT, the midsize pickup was recently spied on the road sporting the usual camo attire. It’s expected to make an official debut as a concept at the Paris Motor Show in October, according to a Motor Authority report.

Rumor has it that the Mercedes truck will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine. However, it’s still unclear whether the model will be sold in the U.S., based on comments from a Daimler AG board member.

It’s “a project that is primarily for overseas markets… the U.S., we’ll have to have a look at it, but no plans at this stage,” said Daimler AG board member Ola Kallenius. So it essentially becomes a matter of whether or not Mercedes thinks they can sell the idea in the states.

We suspect many here at MBWorld probably think that they can. What do you think?
