MB World member shows us how to build a killer W205, one detailed step at a time.

As much as we love our Mercedes-Benz vehicles as is, there’s always room for improvement. Or, at the very least, the opportunity to make your ride your own. That’s the beauty of a place like the MB World forums. It’s there that you’ll find a seemingly endless number of amazing member builds, as well as a format for sharing your own. One recent build that really caught our eye is this sweet Mercedes C-Class owned by member Drew White.

“I wanted a place to detail this project, as I have talked to quite a few guys here on the forums about my plans for this car, and I’ve sourced a lot of ideas and parts from here as well. I figure I have about two months left in this build, so now seems as good a time as any. Would love to hear thoughts and suggestions for sourcing and any creative ideas. But I hope you guys enjoy this and get something out of it.”

Upgrades

Right off the bat, it looks like this Mercedes C-Class project is headed in the right direction.

“Wheels:
Avant Garde M652 staggered in hyper-silver
19×8.5 et47 & 19×9.5 et53

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Front: 235/40/19
Rear: 265/35/19

Suspension:
H&R VTF adjustable coils
Front: -1.75″ at 1/2 total travel
Rear: -2″ at 3/4 total travel”

But stance and rolling stock are just the beginning. Future plans include lots of engine and body mods to make this Mercedes C-Class stand out and go as good as it looks. After the dreaded wait for parts, things began to move right along.

“Got the ArmaSpeed Carbon Fiber installed along with the rear diffuser (thank you Skim7x for the hookup!!) and GTX rear wing. Really excited to get all the chrome bits wrapped and see how it turns out.”

Issues

Unfortunately, some issues following a wrist pin repair quickly put the brakes on this sweet project.

“After 500 miles I am having some serious issues with the wrist pin repair. It seems that the high pressure pump (the loud ticking bit that makes the m274 sound like a diesel) got increasingly louder over the last 100 miles. To the point where it sounds like a high pitch whine I can hear over the sound of my music and wind from the windows being open at highway speed. The dealership has stated that this is normal, but I disagree. The motor is also exceptionally loud on either very cold mornings or very hot mornings.”

So at least for now, further upgrades are on hold until the OP gets that sorted out. But you can bet we’ll be staying tuned for future updates! And you can do the same by heading over here!
