Mercedes EQC SUV Teased in First Official Trailer

By -

Built from the ground up as an electric vehicle, the Mercedes EQC will officially debut on September 4.

Mercedes is spinning off their EV cars through an all new tech brand called EQ. We’ve been given our first tease of the brand’s first creation, called the Mercedes EQC with a video just released of the official production car, however a report from electrek we’ll get to see the full car on September 4th.

Coming in at a critical time in the EV world, the Mercedes EQC is appearing to be a unique approach to electric power. While it is a vehicle that was developed with EV power in mind, it still carries over the traditional appearance of most other Mercedes models. Rather than designing a front end without a grille, or other wild design changes, the EQC could appeal to someone cross shopping a gas-powered Mercedes CUV as well. Range anxiety won’t be a problem either as Mercedes has touted the EQC’s batteries as having a range of over 300 miles.

As with all other electric rides, acceleration is going to put piston power to shame. Total power will be 300 kilowatts, and the sprint to 60 will be dealt with in the four-second range.

One thing is for sure though, Mercedes EQC quality will be much hither than another famous EV maker. With Tesla in their own internal turmoil over the past few months regarding their stock options, Mercedes can jump in to a market readily awaiting a high quality mass-produced EV.

Mercedes’ decision to debut the Mercedes EQC far ahead of its launch next year could be seen as a chess move to take away from press from Audi’s debut of an electric SUV, said to be happening a week after the EQC fanfare on September 4th. Audi’s car will hit the streets by the end of the year, though.
