New model of ultra-luxury sedan expected to have 0-60 mph time just under 4.6 seconds.

There seems to be no limit on the lengths Mercedes-Benz is willing to go to cater to some of its most exclusive clients.

Then again, that’s always been one of the appeals of the German luxury brand. Looking to build on the idea even further, word has it that Mercedes is planning to add its AMG V-12 engine to the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz Maybach, one of the most exclusive vehicles in its lineup, according to Carscoops.

Badged as the Maybach S650, the new 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged sedan would put out 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, a boost of nearly 100 hp over the S600 Maybach sedan.

According to Carscoops, the power boost would give the super-luxurious VIP ride a 0-60 mph time of just under 4.6 seconds. Carscoops makes it point to note that’s only 0.4 seconds slower than the S65 sedan that’ll share the same V12 engine as the Maybach S650, with the Maybach coming in almost a foot longer than the S65 sedan.

Tempting, huh?

Well, we guess that all depends on one’s celebrity or CEO status, considering that early estimates are the price tag for the AMG-powered Maybach will come in somewhere around $250,000.

Oh, and don’t expect the new higher-powered sedan to wear an AMG badge. Mercedes has made it perfectly clear that their intent is to position the Maybach in an entirely different space than its AMG brand.
