In this new age of high-tech cars, how does one go about making some real noise amid all the buzz?

By introducing a concept that’s powered by a dual jet engine, of course.

Seem a bit far-fetched? Sure it does, but that’s the point of a car like the 2040 Mercedes-Benz Streamliner.

The brainchild of South Korean designer Minwoong Im, the concept was inspired by the 1955 Mercedes-Benz W196R, a race car that mimicked the design of WWII fighter planes (minus an actual jet engine). As highlighted in an Architectural Design report, the concept also features a tightly-enclosed front cabin for reduced air resistance.

Unfortunately, the idea of seeing someone blasting down the road in this machine is a wild dream at best. The idea of a dual-jet powered car is currently illegal for the street, and we’ve haven’t come across any information to suggest that the concept will actually power up.

Still, the general idea of the 2040 Mercedes-Benz Streamliner is pretty insane, right?
