Solar-equipped Sprinter RV: Ultimate Road Roamer

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RV

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RV is top notch when it comes to ultimate luxury, and the fact that it’s ‘green’ is even better.

Renewable energy is quite a commodity these days, with wind and solar taking the lead. And while it’s tough to make a wind-powered car at the moment, solar power might not be a bad option. We should be clear though: This unique Mercedes-Benz Sprinter RV, which we spotted on eBay, isn’t propelled by the sun, but the luxury features inside are.

Built by Advanced RV and with a full array of solar panels adorning the top of this Sprinter RV, and a battery pack for the times when the sun isn’t out, almost every feature inside the cabin can be used without ever running an internal combustion engine.

Power comes from the 10kW battery, which is charged in part by either the motor while you’re driving, or the panels which can pump out an impressive peak of 82 ampere hours. So you can enjoy all the conveniences and luxuries of home while roaming the world and keeping the environment clean.

Roaming will be quite easy with a diesel V6 and 42 gallon extended range tanks, with a range well in excess of an estimated 600 miles. Along with the conversion, sound deadening and insulation also mean the ride is as comfortable as you’d expect from a Mercedes.

When you’re parked up for the night, the extra reserve of power in the battery can keep your RV going all through the night, even providing dual zones for heat to keep the cabin warm. If you’re feeling a bit in touch with nature and prefer to go barefoot, this thing even has heated floors.

All of this comfort and adventure comes at a price, however. A “buy it now” price of $227,500 reflects the extensive work done to this Sprinter RV, but for those familiar with these types of vehicles, that isn’t too outrageous of a price. Especially when Advanced RV will start their price with a 3 as-new.
