Everything You Need to Know About the W211 E-Class’s Features and Technology

If you’ve been eyeing a W211 E-Class and want a guided tour, you’re in luck. This video will show you everything you need to know about the potential next car in your stable. Being the gearheads we are, though, the obvious choice is the E500, equipped with the 5.0-liter V8.

This particular one is optioned with Homelink and quad-zone climate. But otherwise it should give you a general sense of what to expect when looking at a W211. The video reminds us of a brochure that you might have picked up in 2003. One that gives a lot of information about the features, but not so much about the car’s trouble spots. That’s especially true for a car that’s aged 14 years.

That said, two important areas, which are often overlooked during a test drive, aren’t covered in this video. We’re talking about the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) and the dual control Airmatic suspension systems. Both can be quite costly if they aren’t in tip-top shape.

Luckily for the SBC unit, Mercedes has issued a 15-year recall on the part. We recommend making sure that recall had already been performed. If not, get it done right away. For the air suspension, however, you may be on your own.
