A Walk Around the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC

For this week’s edition of the “AMG Monday Morning Wake-Up Call” we get to take a walk around the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC with Will Vetter, AMG’s assistant product manager.

The AMG exterior treatment is more subtle than on other AMG models, but under the skin, AMG has been more liberal. The aluminum-intensive S-Class unibody is already lightweight for its size, but AMG has gone the extra mile by making the car’s spare-tire tub out of carbon fiber. AMG also uses forged wheels, two-piece brake rotors and a lithium-ion battery to further reduce weight. Overall, the W222 S63 AMG is 220 pounds lighter than the previous-gen W221 AMG S-Class.
