The response was to the other member, lowbenz89. The only "negative" to the twincam being turbo'd is the compression ratio on the Euro models are a notch or two higher than the North American units. The original 2.3-16 was originally designed to deliver 320HP for Mercedes' planned rallye effort, but was scaled back to 185HP. Sort of makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Hey that's the thing, if the engine was designed to get 320, how do you get the 320hp? Stroker kit and cam? With turbo/super chargers?

Obviously, it can be done expensively, with a normaly aspirated engine. The early 2.5-16 in the DTM cars put out 330HP, while the EVO II DTM cars has 373HP. Later, the 1994 six cylinder DTM's (2.5L) put out over 400HP.

turbo 2.6

even on 190revolution.net there's alot of topics concerning turbos but nothing very clear and no completed project.... that's not good

Custom manifold, downpipe, turbo, intercooler, piping, BOV boost controller are not major problems... But fuel management.... i'm not familiar with the one I have on me 2.6 sportline 1989... It's not a electronic fuel injection system and I dont know if I realy have to replace it and replace the injectors as well....

The fuel injection system in the W201 is just a normal flavor Bosch KE-Jetronic and EZL electronic ignition system. Unlike modern EFI systems, the primary capability that the system has is to meter fuel based on the air temperature.

I'd go C43 and standalone. I'd probably consider turbo and inline six but they are known to blow head gaskets with boost even when head is studded. C43 and standalone is the tix.HP can be programmed for way more than the 302hp the C43 motor produces. This is the truth and if it sells my motor ,I know you're getting reliable hp.Just something to consider.Especially if you Supercharge the C43 motor.425+hp.Ever heard of the 190E AMG with the 6.0L motor? A beast!

Transplant an engine and transmission from a C32. 350 HP or more with tweeks, lightweight, should fit nicely. That is what I want to do with my 190 when I get the funds.

C43 motor better. NA or supercharged. Turbo Diesel is nice but the smoke and smell of the exhaust Not for me. I'd go gasoline inline turbo 6 as a 2nd option but possible head gasket issues have been known to arise.

So, as much as i'd like to drop in a massive V8 or huge straight six.. I think the cost would more than out weigh the result... So I'm kinda interested in changing the KE jet tronic for something a little more efficient.. Hoping for a BHP and torque jump...

Anyone point me in the direction of a company in the UK or Europe that could retro fit one of these Kits and aprox. cost?
Cheers

Use a Motronic system with the V8
