I want more power!
Hey guys! I got a 2.5 16v and I want more power!! Horsepower and torque! Any advise?
I've got straight flow with normal filters since it's mentioned that the standard filters are better, will keep those.
Any idea if maybe it could be changed to EFI by taking it from an SL or something?
Let me know!!

Nitrous = Only effective at WOT and gives your powertrain a nice jolt
Chip Tuning = Read the previous posts, EFI can be chipped, but not CIS
Oil Cooler = Always a good idea, but no HP gain.

I think if you really want more power,
you should go turbo.
We've had a 2.3-16 with Oettinger driveshafts and Mosselman turbo system. produced a mere 300hp and 380nm torque. engine remained standard except for these changes, and also gearbox and drivetrain remained standard.
Was an absolute blast to drive, and was still strong at 160.000 kms.

i have a 1990 180e (1.8l).
I dont really htink theres much power to be gotten out of this engine, unless you start looking at forced induction. I mean my car has a chip and a high flow exhaust system from the headers back and, while there is a litle more low-down torque its not hugely significant.
The only reason i had the install done was because i have a free mechanic (one of my mates). It sounds awesome tho

If your're on a beer budget like me, just get a Vortec 350, new cam (like maybe $79.99 from Summit), drop that S.O.B. in there with an auto overdrive trans and presto-chango, 20 miles per gallon easy, tire smoking, quiet, and will eat fart-can ricers for breakfast.

Now come to think of it, I wished I dropped in a SL500 engine instead!
Anyways will see how free flow, race cams, blueprint and port and polish goes. If that doesn't make it go any higher than maybe the mossel will go in. But gotta make sure reliability's still there.
Anyone with NA tune suggestions?

Hey, **** I wouldn't mind the C43 in my car. ACtually I would love to have that in my car!!
Don't thnk a V8 engine would a problem in the 190E. Some people have done it, they managed to put in those old carb 6 litre V8s. Think all you need is to have stronger springs. Like putting those SL500 springs.
By the way, does anyone know which V8 is a twin cam engine?

It's either "homebrew" or paying over US$5K to Mosselman. For that amount of money, you can get a 2.3-16 to satisfy your "need for speed." There are some handy folks that have done their own turbo and supercharger installs for a lot less than half of what Mosselman would charge, even if they still make the kits.

The stock CIS system can handle up to about 10 psi before you really need to add anything. You can tweak the EHA to give extra fuel for boost. Some on Mercedesshop have done it. One guy with a V-8 turbo'ed and adjusted his EHA 8 full turns to compensate for the added air and needed fuel flow on a CIS-E system. It can be done! 7 psi is very achievable easily and the CIS system is not the limiting factor for boost if tinkered with. Also on 190revolution.net forums a guy was selling EFI systems with instructions and a basic fuel map for the M102 or M103 motors for around $1000 USD. He was in the Netherlands I believe so you had to pay in there currency but it cam to around $1000 for the setup.

great! thanks for all those info I think i'm gonna do something like that... fuel management was my biggest concern but seems to be easy after all! What about this injectors? On my old Honda, injectors was a big part of the setup..becose at 10psi they were not able to provide enough gas... but on my 190e 2.6, stocks injectors would be ok?

however... Nasscmw already has a 2.5-16, why would he get a 2.3-16???
Believe me... in this case a forced induction system is one of the best/easiest solutions (if not the cheapest...) to get considerably more power. A Mosselman turbo system is an example (if you find a used system, the price can be ok) , there's also Lotec who has a system for the 16valve engine.
But you can also buy a Garret, KKK or whatever turbo and build youre own kit. not really that hard and probably cheaper... ofcourse if you buy Mosselman, you have quality.
I've found that the 16valve engine responds very well to Turbocharging, without having to change something to fuel injecting.
Turbo, intercooler and custom header and pipes and that 2.5-16 can easily reach 280+ hp.
just some ideas,
