MYTHBUSTERS DYNO run w/ 430 and different intakes!!!

I just wanted everyone to know that we will be conducting some DYNO runs to finally see which intake will make the most HP on our cars.

Hopefully we will also have a 55 available and MAYBE Blackbenz will be able to show up as well. All in all it should be a good test so we will let everyone know the results as it happens.

This is the link that started it all: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...24#post2436524

if anyone is in Marietta, GA or would like to show up you are more than welcome.

Greg

Wait...what? I live in Maryland, that would be a longggggg trip for me. Unless you're talking about someone else in which case I feel stupid.

Great idea though, cant wait to see the results.

Still would luv to have your monster there. Not worth the drive for a little dyno play though. I wouldn't mind coming to MIR though, should be awesome.

This is that Ml55 setup, only the airbox is different for the 208 CLK. The tube to the throttle body and the maf are the same, 320 box has a little different shape from the ML55 but both have dual inlets and the same size filter. This is what I installed tonight on my CLK55.

E55 Kompressor air boxes are the best flowing.

+10HP on 430, +15HP on 500 and +7HP on NA 55s.

Did this four years ago.

Please move on...........

I have one and it's currently not residing on the car it came from. Obviously I completely disagree that it's the "best" I believe it's crap for the Kompressor engines, but who else makes a "better one"
It will however supply the needs of a non Kompressor engine better, but that one is not better than the single one I have. I can bring it to the dyno too.

Explain this
I heard a mercedes powertrain engineer comment to the participants attending the 2006 Atlanta AMG meet that when asked by others in reference to my project, responded with "he will not make 1 single more horsepower with his intake." He apologized at the dyno, but not before acusing me of a chip tune, and I told him to download it, the gains are honest.
Your little comment sounds similar, open your mind and you might learn. Did you tell all the aftermarket suppliers in your sig not to bother trying to make improvements too? You might try cheering someone on.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did it go for?

Gregory13lil- No problem, I was just a little confused. Thought I may have lost my mind.

mbenzman- You should definitely roll up for MIR. Either fly in or contact pte and rflow and roll up with them. Its gonna be a blast!

I still may, last I heard PTE and Rflow were shipping their cars up. No rolling with them.
I have an acquired distaste for driving through Va., it feels like the gauntlet, wayyyy too many police games for way too many miles. How do I get around that? Drive around Va. maybe? Maryland's no pleasure either though, but at least it's not a huge state.

DO NOT SPEED IN VA!!!!!!!!!!! They WILL put you in jail for going 20mph over the limit. Only way around it is driving around va. Let me know if you plan on coming up and I will give you the hotel info for where the other AMG guys are staying ($129/night)

I used to drive to Nova Scotia at least once a year. My least fav. states to haul butt in is, Va., 2nd MD., 3rd Me., 4th Ct., 5th N.H.. I'm very experienced traveling the east coast and the only one to ever nail me was Va. right at the top, going north where you exit to stay on I95. The last few times I went up 77 through Wv. and across Pa.

Nope, you are referring to the additional "civil fines" which are instate only. It doesnt matter what state you're from, 20mph over is considered reckless and is a jailable offense as well as a misdemeanor that stays on your record for 11 years! They can only suspend your license in VA since it is a commonwealth but the jail time is the biggest deterrent.
