Like I had mentioned to you at the dyno, it's a possible mod for you. We just need to confirm that the throttle is a restriction on a early 430 then. (I'm taking ghost's word that the later 430's use a 74 mm)

yup, 99 model...interesting. Are there any power claim differences between the 99-00 and 01-02 models?

I obviously have both but your connector would have to be modified to accept. I don't remember any power rating difference though, I can't say I retain every last ounce of info all the time. I also haven't had to study 430's, more y'all's favorite subject. What works for the 55's doesn't make a 430 sing. I wonder, here we go again, what cams are in the c43, as it WAS rated higher power than the regular 430's. Are they the 55 cams?

1999 CLK430 (sold) 03 CL55
It's a round connector on your 69 mm throttle body # 00 25 vs. a rectangular on the 74 mm # 01 25.

If you can list the part#'s for:
1. AMG C43 cam
2. Reg 4.3L cam
3. 5.5L cam
This would be an interesting find.
I'm also wondering if my 99-2k 5.5L motor has a different TB than yrs 2k1 and up.

Looks like with the CLK320 air box intake design would definitely benefit from having the air ram forced into the box with some air duct hoses. This is the project I'm wrking on now.
I plan on placing two 3" inch diameter hoses, one coming from the foglight area and the other coming from where they had the original airtube sticking into the piece by the side of the radiator /front grill passengers side. These will be placed in a cut that I have made in my CLK320 airbox on my C43.
I will post pics when I receive and install the stuff.
As of right now I'm thinking at speed the current CLK430 ram design and the AMG ram design air boxes will only have an advantage at speed over the side airbox factory set up.
Build a ram air setup into the CLK side airbox setup and you will have a cooler/temp intake and a pressurized intake as well.

The box has slightly larger tubes, but the design of the box is fairly similar. The air is routed differently inside the 55 box (according to another post where someone opened them up). The volume is slightly larger. Dyno tested, it makes a difference, but only bout 5hp/tq at best, not the claimed 15 whp.
The 430 airbox is the worst of the 320/55 combos. The 320 gets almost the exact same hp as the 55, maybe 1-2 hp less, but with a hair more torque. But, the 320 airbox is in a position such that it shouldn't heat up as hot as fast (it doesn't sit ON TOP of the engine). It's in the bay on the left side of the engine behind the headlight. The deal is, it's within 2 hp of the 55 box, and maybe a hair more torque, but at a significantly lower price.

That is the intent of it's design. It's just unfortunate that they have this box sitting on top of the engine.
Right now I'm taking a cue from the Audi RS4 v8.

Are the C43 and CLK 55 Air box the same part number. And lastly what about the intake manifolds. Are the C43 and CLK55 intake manifold the same part number.
Thanks,
Jeff

CLK air box # A 113 090 01 01
C43 air box # A 113 090 01 01
Intake manifolds same part numbers A 113 140 0701.
One thing is intresting that the throttle body part numbers are different up to MY 2000 and from MY2001.
UP to 2000 A 113 141 0025
From MY2001 A 113 141 0125
