W220 DIN or Doulble DIN Installations?
Has anybody tried to take out the nabigation system and install a single DIN or even a double DIN aftermarket deck to the Bose system, let me know I would like to accomplish this very much... I am not sure how the Nav. system will sound in my 2000 S430 but I hated the deck in my 99 CLK 430 and put a Kenwood in... I would like to totally rebuild the system but need to find out if I can change that Navi. out with an after market deck, any help and or ideas would be greatly appreciated...

First the stock radio has no acc power as it gets its signal from the can bus..
So you will have to use the cig lighter for acc power for the new radio and this should turn it on/off properly. The next problem is usuall caused by a low impeadence load on the amp...Probably caused by the sub which is dual voice coil 1 ohm and you have to rewire it in series to get a 2 ohm load and then you have to make sure your amp will handle a 2 ohm mono load... Depending on how you have the front and rear speakers wired that can also be an issue... It might be best to disconnect 2 of the 4 channels at a time to see which ones are causing the amp to shut down...

Thank you...did u have any problems with ur radio stations coming in and out(bad reception)? It is a 600 watt sony amp,so it should be enough to handle a 2 ohm mono load. I will work on it tomorrow and let u know the results..

the amount of power you amp has has nothing to do with it... Ck your specs on the amp as you will either have to add another amp for the sub or replace the sub with a 4 ohm..to get your reception to work Pin 5 on the bottom connector should be a blue wire you need to hook this to your power antenna or amp trigger wire and this will power the antenna amplifier.

2002 s430 double din
Thank u very much scott.. hooked up the double din to cigartte lighter and all is good now..had to change the sub and the amp is not cutting off anymore..
Still trying to get a better radio reception.. can u please explain what blue wire(the one that powers up the antenna) ur talking about(kinda confused on that one). Is it at the end of the wires beside the speaker wires that is connected to the amp?
Also, did u get your steering wheel control to work..still trying to figure out what wires to connect for that..

the wire is in pin location # 5 in the stock radio power harness... It is usually blue.... I haven't had any luck getting the pac or metra sw interfaces to work on a w220 so I have installed an older (no longer avail) soundgate sw interface that works most of the time....
