GT/C192/R192: Questions about Front Axle Lift option
I am considering getting a 2024 or 2025 AMG GT55. I am certain that I need the Front Axle Lift option to comfortably enter and exit my driveway. Can the front be raised from a steering wheel control, or is this feature operated from selections on the console screen? What are the approach angles for the AMG GT55 in both the normal and raised positions. My estimate of the angle in the normal position is < 10 degrees.
Pretty sure the front axle lift can only be accessed by the central display; however, you can program it to remember locations needing the lift by GPS (see p. 224 of the owner's manual). Lift is, IIRC, about 1.2 inches. Sorry, but i don't know the approach angles.

Do you think the 1.2" (30mm) is measured at the axle or at the most forward low point under the car? If the latter, then the lift at the forward point could be as much as 1.5".

You can add the front axle lift as an option on the left steering wheel dial, which is what I did. Doesn't come standard like that, but easy to customize from the main console screeen.

Are you saying that the steering wheel option to activate the Front Axle Lift is a separate option from the FAL itself? Or is the steering wheel "switch" automatically included when you select FAL?

It's not a separate option. If you option the front axle lift, the default way to activate it is through the center console screen. However the left steering wheel knob can be customized to include almost any function, so the front axle lift can easily be added as an alternative to that knob. Once it's added as an alternative then you can control the lift system through the steering wheel by cycling through the options and clicking the lever to activate/deactivate the lift function. Hopefully that's clear.

Stopped by my local dealer this week and requested a demonstration of the Front Axle Lift option on an AMG GT55.
I took a few measurements with the Active Aerodynamics Profile (AAP) retracted. At normal ride height, 660mm ahead of the front tire patch, the ground clearance is about 100mm at the scalloped outer edges of the APP. With Front Axle Lift engaged the clearance increases to about 140mm. The outer edges of the AAP are flexible and can be pushed upwards over 20mm. The ground clearance at the center of the AAP is about 163mm when the front axle is raised.
These three ground clearance measurements, 100mm, 140mm, and 163mm correspond to approximate approach angles of 9, 12, and 14 degrees. Repeatedly scraping the outer edges of the AAP on driveways with greater than a 12 degree slope is probably not a best practice.
Only a small portion of the C192 AMG GTs appear to be equipped with the Front Axle Lift option. it would be interesting to hear about ground clearance challenges from some forum member without FAL. With the AAP extended, I believe the approach angle decreases to about 6 or 7 degrees which might make it difficult to clear road kill at speeds above 50 mph.
Does the symbol circled in red in the attached photo indicate that the GT55 includes the Front Axle Lift option? If not, which icon is used for the FAL option?
