I have a new (2024) AMG GT 55....when in Sport+ or Race Mode....it doesn't seem to have the burbles on over-run that the car I test drove (also a 2024 AMG GT 55)....I loved how "predictably" i could get the pops & bangs with the car I test drove (give a little gas...let off...fireworks...everytime in Sport+/Race)....my question...is there something wrong with my car for NOT doing this?? Or is the exhaust sound experience "different" for each AMG?
Do other GT 55/63 owners have this predictable sound?
And, if there was an issue, any ideas what might be going on? Thought I'd ping the forum before going to the dealer...
This was a sound I was very much looking forward to!

Might start happening after driving more aggressively when break-in is done.
I just took delivery of a 2025 GT 55 Coupe, and I think I’m in the same boat. I haven’t driven it too much yet, but even in race mode I feel like there are hardly any burbles, if any. I’ve been keeping it below 4500 RPM, but it should still be super easy to get the burbles yeah?
Side note: Does anyone else get a wind noise from the drivers and passengers door/window when going over 50 mph? I doubt mine should be doing that, and I’m wondering if the weather seals are bad or something isn’t properly sealed.
Hmmm....the one I test drove had 60 miles on it (2024 GT 55). EVERY time in S+/Race...would get the pop, pop,pop....was like playing an instrument it was so predictable....not sure why this characteristic would be so "variable" from car to car? Plenty of video's online showing how it burbles....AMG sound is so important to the experience...it's 9/10 now....with these pops...10/10!
I'm bringing my car to Mercedes tomorrow....to see if they can find my burbles....

Probably because of people test driving doing WOT and sadly ignoring break-in. I say there is a high chance it will do the same on OP's vehicle once done break-in and start flooring it.
I have that damn wind noise from my driver side A pillar as well!

So...after 2.5 days at the Mercedes dealer...they "found my pop's and bangs"! It sounds so glorious! And predictable to reproduce....every time. I think it was an ECU reset of some kind (will get tech description next week)....but if your AMG GT doesn't pop on overrun....and you want the pop, pop, pop (in S+ and Race)...take it to the dealer! To me...we are paying for this special AMG sound...why not get it?

but... what is the fix, like work order or something?
I'll post details of the fix when I get the tech's detailed description of what he did...but service advisor said he was focused on ECU stuff... (this sound is"engineered" in by design...so i believe its all computer driven)...details to follow...

I knew I wasn’t crazy! I imagine it’s something to do with the sealing or weatherstrips. I hate to be picky like this, but I’ll probably take mine in and bring it up.

Good to know that there’s a fix for this. Thanks for following up, will probably do the same.

Sorry for the delay....but here is the info on how my MB dealer "found" my classic AMG burble exhaust sound....hope this helps...
Thanks so much for sending this over! I’m curious like the other comment too: in which modes exactly do you get the burbles and pops now? Can you get it in individual mode too if you set certain parameters?
Yes....I get the sound in Individual, Sport, Sport + and Race. I don't recall if I've gotten in Comfort (but I wouldn't be surprised). In S+ and Race...the pops and bangs are most pronounced. My tech drove so "new" AMG GT's on the lot to confirm this is how they come...brand new.
It's so nice to get a 'surprise' downshift and burble! And... you should be able to get the burbles on-demand quite easily, especially in S+ and Race (or Individual if set up right like mine)....just bring it up to 4000 rpms or above....let off the gas....or do a downshift...you should hear the crackles and pops. This is how the car was designed...so if yours isn't doing it...make the dealer fix it for you...it will be worth your while....and please let me know how it goes. Good luck!
FYI....my "Individual" mode is comfort suspension....and "max" everything else! Ton's of fireworks with this set up. I've found this to be my favorite combination.
I was wondering what this thing would sound like with a resonator delete? Not that it really needs more exhaust drama....or maybe it does

thanks for sharing your experience.
so just to confirm, the burble is less pronounced in sport but still there? personally, I don't like the burbles. in my 911 turbo, I would get the burbles in sport, but not sport plus. I drive it in sport plus to get the deeper exhaust but without the manufactured and amateurish burbles.
odd that my car also doesn't produce the burbles. it's a 2025 built in January. from your experience, it sounded like your 2024 didn't have them but the dealer's newer cars on the lot did.
so I'm debating getting it "fixed" or keeping as is. I would like to know that my car is working as intended, I just want "intended" to give me the option of deep exhaust w burbles, and deep exhaust w/o burbles.

I will check if Sport mode has the burbles and let you know....
FYI...I test drove a new 2024 that had been sitting for a while....had 60 miles on it....lots of cracks and pops....so...they had them in 2024 and 2025 model years....and if you youtube reviews....you will hear this sound....again, I believe it was designed to make this sound

The vehicle you test drove might had been driven like they stole it and the vehicle has adapted to the sporty driving style.
OK...my Sport mode has a very subtle, kind of a 1 and done 'pop'...its a low-volume pop and does not happen every time (unlike the pops on overrun in S+ and Race where pops are very predictable). I was even able to recreate this subtle pop in Comfort mode (with exhaust baffles open)...I heard this on both overrun...and on downshifting....however, this is NOTHING like the sound Sport + and Race (and potentially Individual mode) cracks and pops...which can be fairly loud...and seem to respond to how hard you are driving!
I love that I can keep it relatively 'quiet' (but not boring) in Comfort and even Sport mode...but man...I LOVE those burbles....it's so AMG! But for those who prefer more civility...there is a setting for you too!

So update on my end:
I took it in to the dealership, told them about the issue, and even emailed the service advisor this picture to let them reference it when diagnosing the car, and the foreman reported that nothing was wrong and the exhaust valves were opening correctly in S+ and Race mode… I don’t think he had a clue that the car is supposed to have lots of pops and bangs instead of just a simple “thud” sound when shifting. I guess I should take it to another MB dealership and ask to go on an actual test drive with the foreman to point it out myself?
