AMG GTR release update
Got a call from my dealer yesterday. My car is at the port and all thought Mercedes would release them to the US in May but sadly not going to happen.
Latest news is the GTRs are a late June release. Stinks but not much one can do about it.

What port?
Did your dealer happen to say why they won't release them?
Late June is in the "official maketing release" which usually doesn't cover the initial release cars.
Regards

Brunswick, Ga
It's related to final governmental approvals etc etc. Seems as though the convertible will be released at the same time.

They will need all of the cars affected together so a MB/AMG tech can fix whatever is causing the failure before they are released.
Of course we could go with the MB marketing position that says we won't see the GTR until it is released in late June. But that's a LONG time to have north of $200 mil in inventory sitting that is sold but not delivered for 5 weeks. Definitely NOT good business practices.
ALL RUMORS so we all need to keep pushing buttons to get the real story to turn up.

I almost kind of hope this is true. Since I can't get mine until late August/early September... it won't be as long of a wait from others are enjoying theirs before I get to enjoy mine.

It's official!!
MB has decided not to release the US GTR's until "late next month" no reason given.
There are about 300 GTR's in the MB VPC's ready for delivery to customers who have money and want them. Mine is in Brunswick.
What kind of successful business model lets you sit on upwards of $60 million in guaranteed revenue for 6-8 weeks and provide no meaningful feedback to your customers?
In my assessment the MB board and stock holders ought to fire everybody who think this is a good idea.
Delivery Target date 6/20 +-.

I wouldn't do that. Yes, the delay sucks, but in the end it will be worth it, you'll forget all about it once you sit in your new toy and turn it on

Lack of communication sucks but at the end, I would rather have a car that works right the first time rather than having to go back and forth with the dealer.
MB must have identified a problem and they want to fix it before it gets into the public hands and since this is such a halo car, many expect "the best or nothing".
One month or so in the whole scheme of things is really nothing and I believe MB is doing the right move.
Suck it up and play with your other toys while waiting for the new one

ah....say it isn't so. I recall posting on another thread a while back that none of you would see your AMG GTR's until late June or even more likely early July at the absolute earliest and I got flamed for it. As I stated in that thread my last 4 AMG's have been delayed anywhere from 30 days to 90+ days. C63 Black Series, delayed 30 days, SLS Black Series, delayed over 30 days, AMG GT-S delayed over 45 days, GLA45 delayed 90 days. Their excuse was always the EPA, however I don't buy that because I later found out there was much reworking needed on the SLS BS's. I also know for a fact they purposely held off on releasing the GLA due to slow moving previous model year inventory. Live and learn suckers.

I'm at Brunswick too. Final gov't approvals don't take that long so I'm back to thinking it's all about the 4/25 entry in the latest DOG which is related to the lane changing software not working properly.

I predicted this months ago and you were one of the people that flamed me when I did so as I recall. This is par for the course for AMG, business as usual, nothing new and has been happening for years now on all of their flagship and halo vehicles with much anticipated releases.
I honestly don't think I flamed you about this. Remember we were "co ginny pigs" with the E1 so I know first hand about promises.
It's my understanding from other MB and Porsche owners here that Porsche is worse.
Best Regards

Trust me I took some crap from a few guys. Not too sure about Porsche as I have never purchased one new from the factory, only a low mile used one. I do have a 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE on order, I'll let you guys know how Chevrolet does on their delivery date. It's rumored to be capable of a sub 7:20 Ring lap time. I swore I would never buy another GM product after my CTS-V problems but a friend of mine has a new 2017 ZL1 with the 10 speed auto and it's very impressive and the 1LE is supposed to be on another level than the standard ZL1

That's a bit simplistic of a statement. In just over 2 years of ownership of my Edition 1, I have had many delays at the hands of MB. It just gets old. The Ford dealership where I bought a used F150 has bent over backwards for me multiple times to make things right. An F150 is about as "un-special" of a vehicle as there could be, but at least Ford takes pride in their flagship.
