Will the AMG GT go up in value?
I was looking for the heck of it online and the AMG GT has caught my eye. Stopped by the dealership one day when in for a service A and sat inside one. I see prices as low as $84,000. Do you guys think this car will be appreciating in value over the years like the SLR or SLS AMG has? Or will this follow the depreciation curve like most AMG's. I do not buy a car for a return but I did get lucky with my F355.

I would love for them to come down to around $50,000 or so (About what I paid for my F355 many years back before going up in value) . That way it is in my price range I just love the AMG GT cars. I only ever sat inside the base model one but it felt so special to me.

There is no "up" on the GT cars, too much production but you might see a less steep curve in relation to depreciation. These are all 2017's that sold at the auction with decent conditions (sans one) and the values are fairly static.
Unfortunately I dont know the MSRP's here but Id guess the average drop is circa 30-35k in one year which is pretty big but standard for AMG units outside of the dreaded S coupe which is terrrrrrrible.
You have several years and many more miles to go before they hit 50k.

One would hope or think but the GTS is softer than the GT not much unlike a Porsche Turbo vs a Turbo S. The starting point is just too high on the S models (for both brands). Plus the large 5 figure trunk money last year on the GTS didnt help the value in the used market:

Must be random as the net net msrp for the GT (before any options) is 112400 and the GTS is 132400. You probably saw fully loaded GT cars and bare bones GTS units.
But this shows my point of how a car that has a much higher starting point also has a sharper curve downward (after 1 year or so).

In MY 18, a lot of available options on GT were not available anymore.

With the 2016 GTS sales numbers in the US being around 16-1700 - from what I've read (and stand to be corrected http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales...rcedes-amg-gt/), is that really an excessive amount?? Do cars that are collectible really have to be 1 of SPARSE?? This is in the range of Aston Martin and Ferrari. I know too much and too little are subjective. Edition 1 2016 GTS' run numbers even lower.

I was messing around on autotrader the other day and there are a lot less GT cars for sale than a year ago. The ones still for sale are oddball or high mileage cars.
I think we have reached a point where the GT vs GTS has been figured out and the cars with the right options are holding well.
No collectible here now, but a really great car at 100 plus.

I don't think you can escape the depreciation factor with any car. I also don't see the GT in any variant as becoming a collector car, too much production. In my area where I live we are seeing a lot of the Edition 1 2016's showing up at the dealers, leases must be coming to an end. They are being put on the lot for $120K to $128K some with low mile others not and the price are mostly non negotiable. That is what drove me to just purchase new and save the headaches.

I think you mean the 2016 GTS which was the first model year not the first edition.
There were 2016 GTS EDITION 1 models too but they were very limited in production and specially configured - - only 375 made for the US.

I got into a new 2018 GTS with $11000 off MSRP so 2 years newer with 2 years more warranty. It was worth it for me, I like the new grill.

About 2 months ago I posted auction values (averages) on 2017 AMG GTS and it was at 101k--- its now about 2 months later and standard AMG depreciation is occurring (4k a month) LOL but it is due to only 2 sales mainly plus mileage adjustment on the average.

Paid 99.5K for my 16 solarbeam GTS a few months ago with 5600 miles, up to 6700 miles now. If I can get up to about 15K miles and not lose 25-35K I would be a very happy camper.
Lost much more on my turbo S and my R8, so hoping for a bit of a smaller fall on this one lol

No problem, LOL at the forum thing- its only cause I owned a car there or still do. I rarely, if ever, lurk on forums where I dont own a car of that model or ever did. I really like the M Boards too as there is a bunch of diverse owners (like here) and a very popular M5 versus section where we all share our other rides and experiences.
I have not been on the RS7's since I got rid of my 2017 and probably because that forum (audizine) doesnt have the same dynamics I find here or at M5Post.

Here in Canada they are holding their value surprisingly well.
at least from the occasional online searches I have done
With our weak dollar and the MSRP spread of 130k usd to 150k cad on 2016s, it helped up here.
