Nokia 6230i compatible with 6230 UHI cradle?
I have not tested it, but I was about to buy a 6230 when I found the new 'i' version is now available with 'Push to talk' function amongst some other improvements.
Keen to know if it works correctly and interacts with steering wheel buttons and COMAND just as well as the older 6230.
PS. I am using a Euro COMAND in Australia
The camera on the 6230i is really bad anyhow.

I have ordered the cradle and it is waiting for me at my MB dealer.
The phone is still to be purchased.
Hence my question, will the 6230i work in the same manner as the 6230 ?
From what you are suggesting above and reading between the lines, the 6230i will not work.
PS. I have already been ripped off once, as I bought the V600 late last year in anticipation of the cradle being delivered as proposed, only to have the cradle removed from sale.
also i had a heap of trouble getting the old software version of the phone when i got mine....a place in sydney did do it for like $30 aus.....just get the 6230 and enjoy, i am waiting till someone makes one that is compatible with the v3 or other phones

What version of software do you have? Also are you suggesting that if you get a newer version, it wont work!
oh and i have also used this cradle with the new MOST system in a clk500 cab and it works just fine

So as it stands today (starting in June)... YES, the 6230i works in the 6230 cradle.

Anyway its not your fault, Sprocker. Can you tell me what it says on the base of the cradle. i.e. what version no. does it specify.

when are these cradles availabe for the 9700 and where can i get one of these phones, i am in Australia also
However, I spoke with Nokia and they state that the changes made in version 4.28 are still present in the version after this.
I have two phones, one with v. 5.24 and the other at v. 5.26. The latest is v. 5.35
The phones rarely connect when I just drop the phone in, however, if I turn the phone off and then back on, whilst in the cradle, the system kicks in instantly.
Anyone got any ideas on this? I'm going to call Merc in the meantime and see what they have to say about it. I'm suspecting that the UHI is busted or I do literally need to get my hands on version 4.28.
Anyone....?
So I did exactly that - asked for the UHI and paid €143.00 (inc. tax) for it. The box states: B6.787.5846. So there I was, a happy chap....
When I got the car, I connected the UHI to the car and tried the phone instantly. It didn't work, so I thought it might have something to do with the phones software. I had this upgraded to 5.26. Still nothing - unless of course, I turn the phone off, place it in the cradle and then power it back up.
I eventually called Mercedes Benz UK about this (as I need good English speakers) and after talking to an excellent technician, from Daimler-Benz in Leeds, UK. He talked me through everything and he was confused too... so told me to remove the UHI and flip it over. I did exactly that and then was gobsmacked.
After thinking I'd bought the UHI ending 5846, it turns out that I'd bought the right box, but not the the right UHI. The UHI in the box was B6.787.5832. This UHI had ceased production due to problems and the release of the 6230i.
Now I thought... I've got the receipt, the box and the UHI. Lets go the nearest dealer and get it exchanged. Well Mercedes is Mercedes is it not? But no... I went to Biermond & van Wijk in Haarlem, The Netherlands and spoke to a really helpful parts chap. He explained pretty much the same thing as the technician from the UK. That I need the 5846 UHI. So I said - ok, can you swap this for me. He said - No, sorry. Due to that UHI being withdrawn and we (this dealership) being now unable to sell it, you'll need to return to the people you bought it from.
Now the sods that sold me this are "Beresa in Osnabrück, Germany". I'm currently 3 hours drive from them and I don't have the time to drive all the way back to fix this issue.
Unhappy with their service is an understatement!! I had issues buying the car from them too. I was told I would get one thing, but I didn't... i.e. I wanted the automatically dimming mirrors and got folding mirrors instead. This is partly my fault as I'm not amazing in German, but still.....
I want to do this to the parts guy in Beresa

Now shame Merc don't do bluetooth, then I don't have to take the phone out of my pocket. I had this fitted to my SLK... get in and go - no messing about with the phone.

G'day mate. Just wondering how much did you ended up paying for the 6230i cradle and where from? PM me please.
Is your Euro COMAND came with the car or was it a later mod?
Thanks mate.
