2003 MB CLK 320 (W209)
Post Hacking Command 2.0

Hello,

I have a 2003 clk 320(w209) with the command navi. I was wondering if the back of the command system has a VIDEO input... Is there a way of hacking it so I can watch tv dvd and play playstation games? Thanks!

Sure. You can buy a medium quality adapter from eBay and just plug in the bits at each end.

Search eBay for "mercedes tv" and you will get all kinds of sale items.

...or you can email steve@mbenznl.com and he will sell and install an adapter, as well as activating the blank button on your Comand to show video in motion! This is assuming that you live in a location where he visits since you did not bother typing in a location when you set up your profile.

only option is to get a Merc TV tuner or Dietz Adaptor.

Cheers.

"K".....May I ask where you purchased your Dietz adaptor. I found a place on ebay, but they'll only accept funds thru a bank transfer.

BTW....SteveNL's adaptor only accepts a PAL signal, which is fine for most DVD players, but not for a USA TV signal (NTSC).

Thanks

can't remember the exact shop but it was also from ebay... ebay.de that is. But I think the video system will be the same, it will only accept Pal as well. You maybe better off getting a Merc TV tuner if you want to use it for TV... the Dietz Adaptor is only for for those who don't want the TV Tuner.

Cheers.

Dietz works

FYI, RE: Euro COMAND 2.0 W208 w/ Blaupunkt DVD-ME3 (Built-in TV tuner)

Finally bought a Dietz 1440 RGB converter on Ebay from Caraudio24, (they finally accept PayPal).

It takes a little work to hook it up correctly, for example, the VSS wires, CD changer and Aux input, have to be wired into their C1 & C2 connectors.

I just used SteveNL's harness and swapped out his converter (PAL only) with the Dietz 1440 by switching the pins between the two units.

Result.....I used to have to set the DVD player to the PAL mode to watch DVDs (worked fine).....but had no TV (picture tore & rolled). Now, with the Dietz I can set the DVD Player to NTSC mode and get a watchable TV picture. (The tuner and antenna on the Blaupunkt are marginal at best). I can now also use the A/V inputs on the Blaupunkt for cameras, games etc. and get a good picture on the COMAND.

A cheapo way out if you can't get an original MBenz TV tuner.

Easier w/ COMAND already installed.

IMO......Not difficult at all, just switch the pins from the Dietz converter into your C1 & C2 connectors, (actually, that is what Dietz states in it's instructions).

The connectors C1 & C2 on the "Dietz" are the same as connected to your COMAND.

Each wire is "pinned" or clipped into the connector...you just "unclip" the wire from the Dietz connector and plug it into the same spot on the COMAND's connector.

I'll try to attach a photo of the C2 connector...a picture is worth a thousand words.

I don't have a wiring diagram for the Dietz, as I said, I just swapped out the wires, they may have one on their website. I'll let you know about selling Steve's adapter.

2002 CL500 to CL55 conversion
Old thread, but I dont really care, should I make a new one when this has already been discussed with lots of good info here? I think not

this is the first im hearing that we can hack the 2003 command 2.0 US version into playing video. I’m very interested and will be researching the adapters mentioned today. However like most electronics threads from 2005 regarding these cars, the adapters often aren’t still available etc. so I was wondering if anybody has a modern day equivalent etc
