If your cradle works with the V557, it'll also work with V551, V330, V635, and MB/Motorola V600. The only mobile from this family of phones that is "locked-out" is the retail version of the V600.

Otherwise, if it doesn't work with the V557, you may have the MB version of the cradle and it only accepts the MB version of the V600.

I don't have the cradle yet. I have a V635 and wanted to order the V557 cradle from AWS. When I talked to AWS a month or so ago, they told me that only the V557 would work. I would have thought that other triplets phones would work as well. I didn't know if they locked out all of the other models. I started this thread to see if that was the case or if anyone had an success with the other models.

It sounds like you have more detailed information than AWS was willing to share. Is this information available online somewhere?

The V635 was only released in Europe. It's a great phone but Cingular didn't pick it up because it probably overlapped the RAZR too much.

Anyway...

...You're in luck because it works fine in the B67875843 (the V557) cradle.

As I mentioned above, the only Triplets mobile locked out of this cradle is the retail version of the V600. The later MB/Motorola version of the V600 phone works fine in this cradle because it has later generation software.

I agree the V635 is a great phone. I think it does alot more than the V3. The V3i on the other hand looks like a close match on features.

Do you know if I need any particular version of software on the V635 to work with the cradle?

I just had another frustrating conversation with AWS in which they insist that only the V557 and V551 will work with the V557 cradle. All attempts to reason with them fail. The just repeat over and over that only those two phone will work.

AWS can only sell approved retail handsets with approved software levels. It's in their agreement with MB and it protects customers from having a bad experience with incompatible hardware.

There is no approved software level for the V635 but the B67875843 cradle will not lock it out. If you're in the mood for minimal risk, pick one up from your local MB dealer and try it knowing that you can return it if you don't like it.

I didn't realize that they were also available through the dealers. I will call my local dealer tomorrow to see if they have any in stock.

I talked to the local dealer. They don't have any and would have to special order it from AWS. They said that for the most part AWS will not take returns. The price from the dealer is $242.00.

Tell the parts department to enter B67875843 into their parts system and order the part from their MB parts distribution center. It's an official MB part with a retail price of $220 and there is no need to order it from AWS. Otherwise, call your next most local MB dealer!
