DIY AUX input to connect an IPOD for only $10 USD
You will need:
1 - Stereo 1/8 Jack also known as a stereo mini jack (length depens on you, I used a 6ft cable)
1 - pack of 4mm spades and connectors or a soldering iron.
First, you need to pop-up the plastic rim on the front passenger seat as it is shown on picture #1, it is held by a metal clip underneath, so just pull it straight up using moderate strenght.
Now you need to remove the plastic shield under the glovebox compartment next to the outer side of the car (this piece is refered here as the A-Pillar) To remove this shield, you need to pop-out a small oval shaped cover located almost in the center of the shield, use a small scredriver or anything similar, then reveal the torx screw and remove it. Now pull the shield towards the driver's seat, you will need to apply a lot of strenght because there are 2 clips that hold the shield. These clips seem to have glue on the part that hold the shield.
Now you will need to locate the white interconector plug. Look at picture #3.
So, now we need to cut the cable on one side and use the 3 wires to either solder or connect via spades to the Mercedes Benz white auxuliary interconector. Refer to picture #4 and #5.
If you look close to the white interconector plug, you will see numbers (1 thru 4). I connected #1 to the ground on my cable. #2 connected to my red wire. #3 was left alone. #4 was connected to my black wire.
I tested it by playing the spiderman 3 teaser trailer on quicktime. I checked the right and left channels to make sure all my connections were chosen correctly.
I put everything back in place and now you can look at pictures #6 and #7. It doesn't look that great but for only $ 10 who could complain?
Thank,
George.

I might add that if adding a jack in this fashion to a Siemens COMAND 2.0 system is possible, then the '05 and '06 cars (including the S500) could use the MB/Apple iPod kit, because all of the other connections for the kit are present. Only the lack of the aux input prevents adding the kit in cars equipped with that unit. Unfortunately, since this addition is not difficult, I suspect that the connector is absent in the S500. When I get time, I'll look into it.

Then again, my neighbor came over when I was doing my install. He asked why I would take apart a brand new Mercedes Benz when I could get a factory integrated iPod kit.
I just shrugged my shoulders. I think we all know what I was thinking at the time - it's not always about the money - some things you just have to do yourself.
cool trick you got going there for the c320! Any chance it'll work for the s600? i sure would like to to have aux audio input to my HU.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
