Don't do anything if you don't know what you're doing! This is my best advise before you will end up here again asking how to fix your COMAND bc you bricked it!

Thanks. That is the exact reason i was asking. I dont want to mess anything up. I am looking for people with experience that can shed some light. Have you done anything yourself?

Many times inside engineering menu, hardware wise as well as with my Star Diagnosis.

Check out my signature and my website for some clues

Correct sequence: # then * then < NOT * then # then <

In the engineering mode, press and hold the numbers "1 - 3 - 8" it will take you to the update part, then press back button to get back to engineering mode and press and hold "1 - 4 - 7" it will give you the options driver distraction and the dvd region settings, also enable the MP3 listening. The method with # * and < didnt worked for me. This with numbers worked on my euro E320 2003/2004.

I will say it again even if I said it a 1000 times already. As soon as you have firmware 30/06 on it there is no DR.DIST menu anymore with the known codes. Harman/Becker changed them and kept them a well known secret for good reasons.

Also: DR.DIST would only be available in ECE spec COMAND NTG1, not US spec COMAND NTG1. Every other COMAND doesn't even have it implemented. If one wants to watch DVD or TV while driving need to put a CAN-Bus filter in to fool the COMAND (NTG2.5 and newer) into believing that the car is at a stand still. BUT: if that is the way to go, your Navigation will not work anymore as long as you watch DVD for the obvious reason.
