Question W203 and COMAND

Hi guys! I was wondering if someone can help me. I want to get a COMAND for my C230 Coupe and I'm a little confused about the one that will fit in my car. Is the 2.5 European? Or 2.0?
It'll be nice to have TV and navigation but I'm not sure if I need any additional equipment for that (antenna, TV tuner, etc.)
Any help would be appreciated!

You need to get one from a C class - the part number will start with A 203 as a result .. Its COMAND 2.0 with the curvy front on it (rather than the square one)

Ive done a [not yet complete] document on retrofitting, its very easy on the US cars if you have teleaid (since antennas is there)

Adding TV is more complicated, because Im not sure if your US rear windscreen has the aerials buitl in ot nor, and adding the wiring loom is a major job ..

Nav is built into COMAND ..

Thanks Richard!
Regarding the NAV, do I need to install some kind of antenna or something?? Or it's built into the COMAND?

Thanks again.

If your car has teleaid, it is already installed - you may need the splitter so the gps aerial can be used by both, but I know on a C sedan the wire was already there etc behind the radio.

If I were you id check behind the radio and see what extra connectors are there

Well I don't have TeleAid but when I installed my Audio 10 I saw a couple of other cables back there (like fiber optic I think).
If you can tell me how the should look like I'll remove my HU and check them.
Going back to the antenna, since I don't have TeleAid, should I get the COMAND with the GPS antenna? What else do I need?

I saw an old post from you saying that you have a draft document with instructions....if that's the case do you think it'll be useful for me?

Thanks for your patience with a newbie like me!

Hi amiras

PM me your email, i'll send you the doc.

There will be some fibre optics back there, thats the prewiring that runs down to the space for the phone controller in the trunk.

You are looking for a coax lead with a square grey connector (called a HRS) on it- thats the GPS antenna

And, there may be a thinner coax lead, with a very small metal connector on it (thats the diverse aerial feed for the Audio-30 and COMAND)

Richard,

I would like to get the document also.

I have a '02 W203 with teleaid - would adding the command system just be a matter of getting the new hu and dropping it in the dash?? - is the connector that went to the radio the same for the command, would there be any extra clips or mounting brackets necessary to hold it in place??

Basically what I'm asking is - is it just a plug-and-play install?

Thanks,
Ken

Its not quite plug and play, you need to make an adapter
loom.
PM me your email, i'll send you the document.

I'll also try tidy it up and put it put for all to see
