Hi, if the PDA has a real serial port, (and assuming you have a compiler for it), you should be able to do this. Do you mean the Sharp Zarus (sp?) - I keep on meaning to buy one of these and try - apparently there is a new one out

R
I have an ipaq from compaq it is pocket pc O.S. It has serial port, do you think would be possible to use it for Linux? If you think yes, I could send it to you for research on it.
When will you buy the Sharp Zarus?
My ipaq is 3870.

Porting to windows is no easy task (because I know no windows!) - my priorities for freediag project are: -

a) My main job :-)
b) Adding ELM interface support for freediag
c) Extending support for more linux platforms
d) Adding VW/Audi protocol

I'll buy the sharp zarus when the new one comes out

Hi,
I received an email from you called "compiled file" My problem is that mi Linux Tech is very informal, and until now, he couldn´t come to do it, since "Xtmas" For that reason, i´m looking other solution such as "special tool". My MB dealer, is a good friend of mine from the school, and he is very interesd in this subjet, because inadvertenly they change tv interlocks in two cars that were disabled before...
I am very interesting how your car is desabled

I have followed this thread with interest. Are you guys (and gals) sure that to get video to work in motion that you have to go through all this? Has anyone actually tried using the pre-2003 star diagnosis computer? As you know what you are trying to do has been done many times for pre-2003 MB's.

HERE IS A LINK TO MINE

Ted, my MB dealer installed Stardiag 05/02 for me but doesn´t work. It seems that this version was the first to come in DVD, because versions before 05/02 came in several CD roms but he hasen´t.
For that reason, I´m looking other solutions. If you have some ideas, please tell us

............yes, but i do not think it is available for 2003 MB's. Prior to 2003, you didn't need the module. You just turned off the safety feature via the star program. I have looked into this since my last post............MB dealers as a rule cannot do it because they are apparently obligated to update their star software with whatever MB gives them for that year. I guess for legal reasons. This resulted in the inability to disable the safety feature which was possible previously. So, If you can get a hold of the old star program, i think this can be easily done..........in the old program, you had to choose from: "on," "20mph," and "parking brake."
You just choose on. None of this is available in the new star..........you are only able to make the comand recognize your TV and no other options.

Ted, do you have disabled your tv tuner? Did you make it with old Star Diag? I received a mail from http://www.tachorob.nl confirmed that this module cost 250Euros, I wonder if it works.

Sounds like its time to package the code I use to do this onto a micro-controller and sell it cheaply ..

Seriously though, if you are in the UK, and assuming I make it to the next get-to-gether (ie when the weather is nicer), i'll bring my stuff and unlock anyone's TV

[and if you live near me in Surrey/Berkshire border, then i'll meet you somewhere!]

Cheers

will there adapter work for me. There is much confusion about about which systems support a/v or not
I have us E55 with comand

I would like to add dvd to it. I dont care if I cant use it while driving.
Will it work without going to the dealer?

If that isnt an option, how about just video to use for an external rearview camera

thanks to anyone who has this knowledge!

Richard, which is your nearest airport from your town? Do you want to enjoy a free week end in Spain?

Im near heathrow - bit to busy to make it to spain sadly :-)

However, Im thinking seriously about getting someone that I know to build a plug in box that you just plug into the diag socket and it reprograms the COMAND interlocks.

Will probably work out at somewhere between $200 because the volume wouldnt be high - but you can then sell the service to whoever :-) Is that too expensive to make it worth while ???

Cheers
