Hi, yes this is the intention, and Im already working with an associate in the US to produce this using a m icrocontroller and some other bits that they already use.

We'll make it so it can switch on/off the TV flag (so that the TV button springs into life on US units, and you can then plug in a megacomm interface) and so that it can switch on/off each of the 4 TV interlocks
(2kmh, 10kmh, foot-brake, P gear)
It will take a few weeks (especially as Im on holiday for a week in a couple of weeks time), so please hang in there

Cheers,

Mustard,

Yes they sorted the rattle, a long story but it turned out to be the rear left hand brake cable adjuster locknut not done up tight!

It is near the exhaust and as it heated up the rattle disappeared.

But I have loads more trouble now! See :

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...489#post264489

Car went in again yesterday and they reset all the faults stored in memory but can't find the problem. I’ll give it a few days for some to re occur and then I'll have to start making a fuss!

Graham.

Frustrating. Hope it gets sorted, at least electrical faults don't rattle! - missed the earlier thread....

Now Im back from holiday and the weather is improved in the US (where my colleague is), we are making some progress - the code is just being done on a prototype platform, then we'll make a board, probably with a single switch that does
(a) TV enabled, all interlocks disabled
(b) TV enabled, speed interlock enabled

I'll let everyone know when there is more progress

Cheers

Interlocks

Cone

My TV was fitted by Megacomm, and at the time I never asked for all the 4 interlocks to be switched out/off, this was because I didn't know it could be done.

Megacomm's default setting was to switch out two of the four interlocks, the Park and Footbrake locks were off...

On returning to the UK I got the other two interlocks switched off/out as well..

So if you have asked Megacomm to switch off all the interlocks, you should definately get two off, and maybe all four..

Let me know how you get on and how much you get charged

Good luck

Steve

Hi, they did it in my 2003 S Comand two weeks ago, it cost 149 euros plus shipping, now, I receive my new SL 350 with comand and tv but I don´t want to disassemble from my car, that is why I ask Richard when will be ready his "device", another question is, when my dealer uses the Strar diagnosis in my car, I need to remove Comand´s fuse for not activate tv interlocks again.

Fuse removal

Hi Cone

I think I understand your question..

I have never removed my fuse from Comand before taking my MB in for a service. I have had one A service and two oil change services from an MB agent/dealer, and the TV still stays on..

Hope this helps

Steve

Re: Re: Interlocks

Hello,

We are beginning to make some progress on the device, Im still not committing to a date though.

- If the dealer specifically changes any setting on COMAND using Star diagnosis, the speed > 2kmh interlock will be re-enabled.

If the dealer is just reading the fault logs this will not be a problem, or if the dealer is changing other settings on other control units on the car - again no problem

Cheers

However, Im thinking seriously about getting someone that I know to build a plug in box that you just plug into the diag socket and it reprograms the COMAND interlocks.

Will probably work out at somewhere between $200 because the volume wouldnt be high - but you can then sell the service to whoever :-) Is that too expensive to make it worth while ???

Cheers

Just an update for you, we have the first (test) version of the software - which I will put thru its paces this weekend - we are working between 2 continents, so things can go slower than we would like.

Richard,

I followed the whole discussion with high interest. I've got the hardware (interface from Andrew) and the software compiled on a linux system. Question to you is now if you can tell me how to proceed in order to get rid of the blocks.
Or do you prefer to wait until you have your "out-of-box" device ready ?

Obviously I would like to have a solutions as quick as possible but I fully understand if you prefer to go only for the solution you are currently working on.

In any case I would like to tell you that I highly appreciate your contribution.

regards

merlin

Richard, I have been following your work with more than interest, I live not far from you, I have a 2002 SL55 AMG and desperately want my interlocks removed, and I would definately be interested in paying you $200 immediately!

I hope your development is going well, if there is any help you may need I will be more than happy to help.

I have an S500 which I was lucky enuff to bully Merc dealer in Lakeside to remove all interlocks (in November) as I said my reverse camera wouldn't function with the locks on and made a song and dance about it..they luckily removed them for me but I don't think I can ask them any more favours if you know what I mean...

be happy to pay for your talents....
