A customization Question

Hello Everyone I am wanted to get some opinions. I wanted to get a system installed in my 01 c240 and was thinking to take out what ever is connected to the SOS button and connect the power to the subs. What do you guys think about it and how much it would cost to do something like that. Any opinions and suggestions would help. Thanks in advance.

Does not sound like a good idea (even if I had difficulties figuring out what the idea actually was).

I wired my SOS button to eject me through the sun roof in case of emergency. Easier to do than you think!

Yes I am trying to put a complete new system in the car and the spot over head where the lights and the sunroof buttons are there is an SOS button and my subscription expired so it does nothing. My parents often use my car and they don't like the thumping of the subs in the back so I figured since that button does nothing any more to put a kill button for the subs there instead of making another one and locating on the car. Would this be a simple task or would it be to expensive and not worth it?

i dont know how the wiring is in the car, so i cannot say with any certainty; however, i believe just wiring a simple switch to kill the power to your amps from the front seat somewhere would be much easier, and you even hide it (under the steering column or wherever) to make it discrete.

yes it can be done but the biggest issue is that the SOS button is not the right type to allow direct connection... the existing button is momentary (it onloy connects as long as you are pressing it) so you will need a device called a racheting relay which will convert the button press to a on/off state. then it is simply a matter of cutting the existing wires from the button and rewiring them to the relay...
