Comand+Bose

I bought a package from a friend which is a Bose set to Mercedes W163 with 8 speakers plus subwoofer and amplifier. I have a Comand 2.0 in my ML with D2B. How do I connect it? I know I have to route the D2B to the amp, and the 24 pins connector? The amplifier nr is A163 820 27 89. Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

Could you post more accurate info about your car (163.xxx, MY)?

Some MLs run speaker cables from the HU to the sound amplifier but this should not be the case for you if your HU supports D2B. But if the head unit was D2B based, it should not need any 24 pin connector to the HU (or are you talking about the speaker wires too (that of course leave the amp but do not go to the HU).

Thank you for your prompt reply. My car is a W163 113 270 CDI. It as D2B as I retroffited it and used also a c1 c2 connector. I supose I need to connect the D2B and also the speakers. Regards from Portugal

Wiring Bose Amp to comand

My problem that I don’t know which pins must I use for the speakers, as I already realised the sound is transmitted from the Comand to the amp trough the D2B right? And does it need wakeup also? Thanks

Yes, anything on D2B needs wakeup, The sound amp goes on a bracket behind the glovebox (on a LHD car), the speakers connect to it, sound comes round the D2B as you realised

Thanks Richard I was looking under the dash as i read another post that said:
" The BOSE sound system amplifier is mounted on the firewall above the driver's footwell. It's hidden behind sound insulation mats. There are two connectors: 8 pins and 24 pins. "
I`ll try to find it out later Thanks

Aha, its above the driver's footwell on my wifes ML500 - but that is because it is a right-hand-drive car - I have made the assumption that it stays there on LHD cars.

I suspect the other poster was either in a RHD vehicle, and/or because of the 2nd 8 way connector it was an older analogue BOSE system (with that 8 way connector going to speaker connector on head unit)

Cheers

Richard

Retroffiting bose to a comand

After all this time and contacting Mercedes I could not find how to retrofit the bose amp and sub to my comand. I have 26 pins in the amp, what do I connect there and how?

I managed to take a quick look at the parts catalogue, and there is no specific wiring loom for the Bose option, the main body loom is different on cars with and without Bose. (and cost about $2k for a replacement)

So, you need to obtain
a) a wiring diagram
b) the part number for the 26 pin connector and the 2-3 different pin types used in it
c) some fibre optics to connect it to the head unit (easy part)
and make a loom yourself

Do you have any friendly contacts at a MB dealer ?
