How hard is it to get power into the glovebox?

I have a CLS55 w aux input and want to get a bluetooth receiver.

Scosche UBCK

See pic

That wire on the top left is the power cable. How would I go about connecting that? How much work would it be?

Your link does not work for me. Could you wire power from the cigarette lighter? Is switched power ok?

It is pretty easy to remove the ashtray completely. You would reach the cigarette lighter wires then. It might be possible to feed a wire to the glove compartment if you just know a safe place for hole for the wire but it would be better to remove the side panel or even the glove compartment (but that would be a lot more work).

He might want to listen to music at daylight too. At least my car does not provide power to these interior lights at daytime.

Glovebox light would only get power when the glovebox is open!

Yes but the switch is also at the glove box, switched power (switched on with ignition on) would appear at the input of the light switch. This could be used if it is on also at daylight.

I had a look at W211 wiring and it looks like the glove box light would not be controlled by ambient light, not at least on the W211. I assume the glove box light is neither controlled by the instrument cluster light intensity adjustment, meaning it would be 12 volts, not dependent on the interior lights intensity setting. If the CLS is the same, it might work.

I believe the glovebox light is controlled by the contact switch on the glove box, you should be able to get ignition switched power. If there is a contact switch, chances are there is switched 12v there.
