I believe there is a module that you can get that will do just that... I have seen it on the S class when they add an aftermarket camera but I bet it would work the same way on the suv's

Wasn't there one from Midcity? I've seen a VIM module that controls the rear view camera too. On a W221 the camera module is powered, you "just" need to give the correct CAN bus commands to turn the display on (like they are fooling to get the video display on).

Driving from the front camera view only at high speed isn't really wise, but not impossible at all. Driving from the rear view camera would only work if you are really familiar with the road and know what is expected after what you see, and when there is no traffic (of course one can leave that for the distronic audible warnings).
Looking at the rear view camera display at high speed isn't too much different from having a glance at the rear view mirror. Someone wanted this mainly for city driving when the rear window blind does not allow a good view backwards and one would prefer others not seeing to the cabin.

W203 slightly modified

If people want to use it to weave in and out of traffic then I would think it would scare the pants of some people seeing a car that big moving around.
Speculation on my part really.

Eeek,
Theres 2 parts of this
a) The head unit selecting the video input (and for cars with TV the TV tuner selecting the AUX-1 input)
b) The power unit for the camera powering up - which is done from a wire to the left hand reversing light.
b) is easy to do,
a) is not, as the signal comes round the car's canbus network, and you cant just intercept or link onto that
So, the answer is no

If using the camera to extend visual range (during very brief checks) for high-speed driving, that's one thing. But using a flat screen or a projection seriously decreases depth perception, which could cause a crash. If you'd use it to see a 'roo in the road beyond your visual range, that's one thing - but for judging the distance needed to stop, it's quite another.

What you want can be done, however you are going to pay for it. you are about $899 plus shipping and the good news is that it will allow video in motion also, so 2 mods in one. if you are serious enough post back here and i will put you in touch with him
