Motorola V710 repair needed
Does anyone know of a repair service for the Motorola V710 MB branded phone? Considering the expense of purchasing a new phone, repair certainly seems to be the most reasonable way to go.

Alternatively, a Google search on Motorola Phone Repair will get you any number of options. I used a service in Atlanta several years ago - no longer have their name - but they did a great job. If you decide to pursue this, be SURE they do not wipe your firmware. If they have to replace the board that contains the MB firmware, they may not be able to re-load the firmware, and your phone would be useless.

Thanks kjb55, I am using the MB V710 exclusively in the car cradle and when I drive I forward my Blackberry to the car. I tried the BT puck and did not like the quality.
I would be interested in the phone only as my cradle works just fine. My wifes MB V710 works in my cradle so I know it is my phone that is going bad. PM me if you would like to give me a price. Thanks, Keith

I got a replacement handset device (Motorola V710) from Ebay for $20 that appears to be in good working order, except that it does not work from the car. It has paired successfully but instead of going through to the dialed number it goes to the Verizon switchboard. That does not appear to have anything to do with the phone. I am looking for troubleshooting ideas. Any ideas??

bking,
Have you set the phone up on a Verizon account and phone number? The situation you describe sometimes occurs when one tries to use a phone that was formerly on a service provider's network, but no longer has an active number.
To go any further, we will have to know the model and year of your car, and what phone equipment you have installed. Completing your profile will help.

You could use the non-MB branded V710 if you went to a Bluetooth installation. The V710 functions as both a plug-in phone (when used with its mated cradle) and as a Bluetooth phone. For plug-in use, it must be an MB-branded phone; not so for BT use. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html

The Bluetooth device uses the phone's antenna and is subject to fade outs and dropped calls. The MB branded phones uses the vehicle's built-in antenna and is less prone to fade outs and dropped calls. Nevertheless, I was prepared to opt for bluetooth before I got unfettered access to the MB phone.
