no dvd please insert a navi-dvd (car trunk)????

Anyone get this message on their nav screen, even though the DVD is actually in the navigation system??

My nav DVD's in there, but it's giving me that message.

Probably an issue with the DVD read head. You could always try to check the DVD and clean it if necessary.

But wouldn't I get some sort of read error or something?
I cleaned the disk and am still getting the same message. It's like it isn't doing anything. Usually once you insert a disc, like on the CD player you get that revolving cirvlce thing, but it doesn't even do that.

Anyone get this message?

no, it's the same nav DVD that came with the car. I just picked the car up last week. It's an 06 CLS500.

Not sure if they just gave me the wrong one or what. The DVD has a number 10 on it.

Could be #10 of a 10 disk set which isn't used on your vehicle. Those are for older systems does it say DVD anywhere on the disk? What other numbers does it have please give as much details as possible.

JonMBZ is on the right track. Your CLS' nav uses DVDs, and there is only one for North America. The 10-disc set is a CD set for older systems, which your car doesn't use.

See http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...llProducts=YES or your dealer.

You should not state both of these comments. The more copies are made, the more those have to pay who do it "legally". You cannot be surprised about the price if you are yourself preferring the copy option.

+1 for Diesel Benz' comment.

Having followed UK-C200's posts, and in the context of his full comment, I am certain he meant older originals are available on ebay. They are.

I am sometimes surprised at folks who will cough up the cash to drive newer Benzes, and then are willing to steal for minor items like navigation discs. And yes, copying copyrighted material is stealing.

The thought process of some people boggles me. I already went over this in another post, but will again.

So because you own a MB, it means that you are to automatically throw your money around like nothing? Please.

I've already paid for a navigation system that is supposed to include a navigation DVD. So I should be responsible for paying again? I dont think so.

And please enlighten me. You mean to tell me you've NEVER made copies of music that you didnt pay for? You can, or everyone on here can deny it all they want, but if you have, we are comparing apples with apples. copying copyrighted music is also stealing, but that doesn't stop anyone does it?

So what does that say about a MB owner. Again, that because they own a mercedes benz, that they are now supposed to pay for their music?

Hey Sky, yes, thanks - you think I would have learned by now that using the word "copy" in the context of these type of conversations is not that smart. To be very clear, I was suggesting that if you didn't want to pay $199 for a new set, you can purchase older ORIGINAL DVD's on eBay for considerably less.

Forget what type of car you own, it's a contextual statement - chances are that a person who just bought <pick your inexpensive utilitarian car model> as opposed to a luxury car will expect to pay less for parts.

ROTF - you paid for a car with a integrated navigation system; obviously you did not purchase the navigation data or we would not be having this discussion - hence you "never paid" for it, or were taken advantage of.

Please don't think we all look into the same mirror in the morning. I don't steal music. Sorry.

Nah, simply says that honest people should not steal. If you don't like, believe in, or support copyright law that's your option, and does not make it one bit less illegal. I'm not going to get into a rant over the value of music copyright, or the business model of the major studios, and I'll be happy when things change. Hell, "Fair Use" is under attack at the moment.

I'm sure this isn't going to change your mind - people who steal one thing find it easier to steal others - just because you "can" does not make it right.

DISCLAIMER : I do produce copyrighted material, and yes, I do actively pursue the people who steal my work. No, it's not music!

What a joke.

I guess your just a better person than everyone else. And your right, not everyone looks at the same mirror in morning, the difference is some people can look in the mirror and just man up and be honest with themselves, good or bad. I dont have to dance around the fact that I don't like paying for things that are easily and accessibly free, call it what you want.

But seeing that you invested some time to comb through my post and quote my everyword to sell everyone that your that honest clearly leads me to believe that youre trying way too hard to convince me and everyone in here of something your not.

Keep dreaming buddy.

Not trying to sell anyone on anything - your opinion of my honesty is probably on par with my opinion of yours. I figured I'd quote you for clarity, and because if was a format you'd understand - https://mbworld.org/forums/2199015-post13.html

Hope you are never in a position to produce anything you don't want stolen. Best of luck in your quest for free navigation disks.
