Going from Timeport to V60

Going from Timeport to V60
Hey All,
I just picked up a 2002 CL-600 that uses a timeport phone but on my 2002 E55 I have a V60 and would like to use that (V60) phone for both cars. Does anyone know what's required to convert the timeport phone over to the V60? I have done a search and see that a longcord, PSE, and cradle would be necessary, but can anyone confirm this with part numbers? I went to my dealer and they said it can't be done and I would need to swap out the whole unit and cost would be around $2500. I don't find this acceptable and would love to know where I can order the parts and do everything myself. Thanks in advance for the help. Any feedback or suggestions are more than welcomed!
Kind regards,
Vin

The new PSE is indeed a dual PSE (Timeport/V60). Mercedes started using these PSE's in Mid to late 2002. If your PSE has a white label on it, then it is a Timeport only PSE. If it has a blue label it is a dual PSE (Timeport/V60).
As the poster above said. a simple cradle, cord kit and PSE swap (if needed) is all you need to do to make this work.
Dealer retail cost for the parts is approx $600 - $800 uninstalled.

CORRECTION:
Well, my MY01 S500 has a lever for VR (on steering column) - so VR is in there..
I got the car without the phone itself so I assume that Timeport P8767 was installed... (BTW - how to check it?)
Thanks

When your COMAND is on, pull the level. You will hear a beep, then say "Help"

Also noticed (was not in the "HELP" provided by VR) that you can switch COMAND to Navigation screen by (well, quite obvious) "Navigation" command...
I heard that European Linguotronic is capable of manipulating navigation portion of COMAND as well, in US version I don't think it is possible...

Go to my website .....
and you can download the install bulletin from there.
It's at Paul's MB Info Website .....
Go the the "Phone Bulletins" page and you can download the proper bulletin for you model/model year. The parts list is on the last page. It will show you where to look for your PSE.
Please be aware that the Q682 0754 Auto-sense PSE was unlreliable. If you already have it in your vehicle then just keep it but if you are going to upgrade get the Q682-0845 or 0885 versions. These all come with the new kits.
All you need to upgrade from a Timeport is the phone, PSE, and V60 cradle-cord kit. Nothing else is required

Kinda confused about all things that necessary...
Just want to make sure that in order to upgrade S500 2001 TimePort w/ VCS (VR) factory installed to v60 phone I need:

New PSE (I believe the one I have installed is TimePort only - vehicle made 09/00)
v60 Cradle Kit? That I assume comes with all cords and inserts... ?
Any latest part numbers?
Thanks

Hmmmmmm ....
Maybe simple, maybe not ....
You should verify the PSE part number first, although I guess in the end it doesn't matter that much. In '00 they were installing StarTac phones. The only minor issue is the antenna and antenna switch for a StarTac is different than the one's for a Timeport/V60. It doesn't make much of a difference in reception, though, so leaving it alone is okay.
The PSE and cradle kit upgrade should be all you need, but if your serivce provider is Verizon it gets more complicated. They may only activate the new V60s which is FCC E911 compliant and that requires a different cradle kit.
Also, I have heard that the '00 S class stock head units don't always work right with the V60. you may experience some intermittant noise and muting issues, but this is rare ... just a head's up ....

I got the car without the phone so I am just guessing that TimePort P8767 was installed there...

Has your car had a phone in it???
Is there a cradle in the center console now???
Go to my website at: Paul's MB info website and select the "Phone Bulletins" webpage. You can download the Phone install bulletin for your specific model and model year and it will show you where all of the phone componenets are located.
