Installing my first head unit 1998 w210 with bose.

Hi I have a w210 1998 e320 with a factory bose system. The cassette deck stopped working and a few other issues, and i was quoted between 200-300 to get this repaired. Anyway i figured its a good time to upgrade as i can get a brand new one with many more features for less. I know little to nothing about installing car audio but I found this online and it seems like they provide everything I need for installation. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX...ml#details-tab Would this unit be any good? I also heard that you need a 4 volt preamp for these bose systems. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Are there any tutorials on how to do the install the only one's I see show someone insserting the keys and pulling out the deck and the finished product I don't really need to see how that's done.

The wiring harness that either Crutchfield or Sonic Electronix will supply you with your purchase will match color to color with the aftermarket radio harness. The antenna adapter plugs right into the factory antenna then into the aftermarket radio. The mounting sleeve for the aftermarket radio slides right into the opening and you just have bend a couple tabs to hold the sleeve securely into place with a flat blade screw driver.

And if you still can't figure it out, both of those places offer technical support.

I'm not sure if you're really going to like the "MixTrax" feature on the Pioneer. Look on either one or both of websites and look for the features you want. There's a lot of good options for a $150 or less. Features like: Bluetooth, USB, 4 or 6 channel RCA outputs, 4 volt or higher RCA outputs

I have found this (I think it is the cheapest with 4v preamps) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX...-KDC-X597.html I am hearing that I need 4v preamps for the bose system is this true? I won't be using the rca outs so i'm not sure how this factors in.

Google an image of the Metra 70-1786 and you'll realize you'll be using the RCA outputs.
