Yes, all cars have the vrm switch in the steering column. None have it on the actual steering wheel. I have the part no. for the lever if you need. All US cars have wiring for VRM installed already but in different locations than the phone PSE. My VRM is under the trunk carpet and my PSE in the rear right wall of the trunk.

Wow that is a fact I wasn't aware of. In my car the VRM is right on top of the PSE.

man, you guys are deep....are you saying there's something on my steering column related to the phone that I'm not aware of? All I know about are the radio buttons.

I don't know if your car has this or not but it should. Look at the opposite side of the cruise control lever on the right side of the steering column. There should be a plugged holed there. This is where the lever for the voice control goes. The switch should be inside the steering column already. Since yours is a 2000 model, I would think it's already there. Your car should also have the fiber d2b ring installed so you can also add a phone kit.

the car does have the phone kit; I just bought a Timeport on ebay from Carlos Miami---haven't activated it yet, but test calls work great. Would the car have the factory phone kit without the voice control?? ps...how about some pics of your car?

you can see pics of my car at MY SITE If you car has d2b fiber (which I think it does) then you should be able to use the MIKBOX or any other current mercedes phone kit out there. Check the PSE to see if there is a orange colored fiber optic connector.

What if our car did not come with teleaid or doesn't have a PSE?

Anyone have the part for the C class lever on the steering wheel for voice activation?

I have the part no. for the steering wheel lever for the Voice Recog. I'll post it later on. Teleaid does not have anything to do with what Mik is trying to accomplish. It's a totally seperate system. IF your car has no PSE (phone system electronics) then this will not work. You have get a PSE first. Mik is trying to work on a deal with the older PSE's for the benz since new ones are around 1100 bucks. Nokia PSE are much cheaper that steve can get us but it has not been tested with the MIKBOX. THe UHI has not been tested either.

Part number for voice control lever

The voice control lever part number is

203-545-0044
000-545-0644

Color code is 9c45.

My EPC shows 2 part numbers. I believe they changed the shape of the lever around 2003. They should both work though. These part numbers are for C classes 2001 and up.

I could try to get a PSE from a wrecking yard. Where would it be located in the W203 sedans? It is easier to find in wrecked C320's. Where would I put it in my Coupe?

Thanks for the part numbers.

I want a functioning car phone, I hate the bozo'z who swerve all over the freeway holding cell phones next to their ears. I have a good ear piece, but want the MB to have a permanent cell in it.

It's located in teh rear right side of the trunk on the w203 cars. I believe the same on the coupe as well. You can check my car out here MY SITE The Motorola PSE will be larger than the one in my car. The one in my car is the Nokia PSE.

as far as I know, the 2000 C class (W202) was originally equipped with the StarTac. I am not sure if that was prepared for voice recognition, since its not listed in the part number list for that model. However for the W203 it is (PTT Level for W202: Q682-0651), you'll also need the SBS (Q682-0650), or just buy the whole kit including the installation materials.

cradles...

not sure if this is at all a help but i have the v300 in my car using the motorola full handsfree kit. all the (newer) motorolas use the same basic kit, with different cradles (referred to as hang-up cups). i previously had the v70 and when i got the new phone i simply traded out the cups.

anyways - the cup itself has the motorola 2-part plug and antenna piece that plugs into the back of the phone (covered with a little piece of rubber). the antenna has a mini-UHF connector that fits with the factory antenna wiring.

the motorola connector does not have a cable attached. the cup comes with a cable that goes from there to the brains box... so based on the pictures that you've posted it seems as your piece will clip right into the cup.

i'm not too familiar with the PSE and where the antenna connection goes, but currently i am using the factory antenna without a problem so it should all piece together.

you can check out the v300 cup here...

cool. I wonder if the V600 fits in there. That would be a real cheap alternative to the new UHI adaptor.
I wonder though if the newer motorola phones do in fact have the same plug. I just got a Nextel 730 phone today, and although the plug really looks the same, it does not fit.

It does fit ! This solves many problems. You can get those for $30 at some places, just crimp on the RJ48, and there, you save over $200 for the cradle.
I ordered three of those hang-up cups, that covers most of the recent popular Motorola phones. Including the 730 which apparently does have the same connector.

There's a full install for the v600. I have it. It works fine. But of course, I've got no interface with Comand or steering wheel -- just terrific handsfree. I expect that when Mik gets his box done, the Motorola braket will work just fine -- only you could then mount it in the center console like a factory phone.

Mik is still devoloping the Nextel interface but the regular 730 would be no problem as motorola makes a cradle for these phones at the moment.

Here is one for the i730

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/original.../nntn4751.html

I'll order one and check it out. The other one I got is for the T730. The i730 is the one that has a different connector.
