W205 - Command NGT5 - NGT5.5 retrofit. Parts list

First time poster, long time listener..

Recently jumped into a 2016 C43 after driving BMW for 15+ years. Most recent was a loaded 2017 435D Coupe WITH CARPLAY!

Cabin creaks aside, i'm loving the car and even though it's only a evening / weekend play thing i am missing CarPlay and a better MultiMedia user interface. I've considered the usual options but neither the MMI box or Android head unit appeal to me so like an idiot with no sense of financial control I'm considering retrofitting a newer Infotainment system with NTG5.5.

Current system is:
Command APS NTG5
DAB radio

Premium Sound System (Burmeister)
360 camera

I believe my shopping list should be:
A2059000441 - Screen
A2229009519 - Infotainment unit
A213820040006 - USB / Multimedia unit to replace the standard USB in my arm rest
Multimedia loom - Part number TBC but may need to be a bespoke loom off ebay

Is there anything else i need to consider outside of coding. Also, is there a way to determine which systems have NTG5.5 by the part number?

Anyone have any thought on this ?
I thought of changing out my screen for some 700-1000 android screen. But I guess I need more then just the screen, eh ?

end goal would be to have car play, newer screen, with google play store and all that while maintaining existing functionality.

I found this post which pretty much answers all my questions, however being in the UK part numbers are different but the principle remains the same.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...t-attempt.html

I bought a Wireless CarPlay MMI box, however returned it as it arrived damaged so am considering options.

Given there may be compatibility issues going to NTG5.5 from NTG5.0, i'm going to instead take the path of upgrading to NTG5.2 as this will only require swapping the infotainment unit and it arguably the cheaper option. Coding isn't too much of an issue as i have a couple of companies local to me which can do it but i'm still a little confused....

So, based on the fact my head unit is A2059002929, I believe I need:

A2229009519 - Infotainment unit
A213820040006 - USB / Multimedia unit to replace the standard USB in my arm rest
Multimedia loom - Part number TBC but may need to be a bespoke loom off ebay

Thanks OP for this thread, what are the main differences between NTG 5.0, 5.2 and 5.5?

NTG5.0 - Unable to have native Carplay, third party upgrade required like a android screen or MMI
NTG5.2 - Looks the same as 5.0 but but in most cases can have Carplay activated
NTG5.5 - Newer user interface found on the 2018+ Facelift models. Has Carplay as standard but may need to be activated

Yes if your vehicle list is up-to-date on your public profile, so I think you have a 2018 C 300 coupe which has NTG 5.0... that said, that might not be standard or you could have audio20. The best way to tell is to show the screen, the graphics of audio20 is different to COMAND NTG 5.0

The facelift W205, so 2019+ model year has NTG 5.5. While the pre-facelift X253 GLC had NTG 5.0 as well but facelift have NTG 6.0 and therefore MBUX, no longer called COMAND. Hope that clarifies it for you.
