VW Golf MKVI 118TSI and C250 CDI Coupe (on order)
7 spoke or 5 twin spoke wheels?

Hi all,

As some of you may remember (Esp fellow Australian buyers) I joined several months ago and was discussing a potential purchase of the C250 CDI coupe. The time is finally here and we are likely to seal the deal in the next couple of days.

One quick question we've been undecided on is whether to go with the 7 spoke or 5 twin spoke wheels that come as a part of the AMG Pack here (as far as I know we can chose either).

What are everyone's thoughts?

I like the 5 spoke since 7 spoke looks a bit Asian car like. However, 7 spoke will look bigger on the car due to the design and optical illusion. There is a new wheel type coming in June on the sport version of the coupe. See my post and take a look at the pictures.

actually, the 7 spoke looks smaller. I had both on my car. The 5 spokes have a meatier look to them, and some depth while the 7 spokes are too flat and lack any definition, but that's just my take...

See I didn't consider the appearance of bulk, but in general I find that wheels whose spokes go right to the edge of the rim look larger to the eye than wheels where the spokes are somewhat inside the rim. I had a set of 18" black rims with a silver chrome lip and they looked more like 17". Could be just me though.

haha, I would say on wheels with a chrome lip and different color spokes, the lip and contrast is what creates the illusion of being smaller.

I preferred the 5 spokes to the 7 spokes. Also, it seemed there were a lot more 7 spoke wheels vs the 5 spoke wheels when I was shopping for a coupe

Congrats DL250

I was always hoping for you to join the club as a Melb. Aust. C204 C250 owner

As for wheels choice it's always a case of personal taste, I chose the 5 twin spoke (AMG 786 design) but I do intend to eventually acquire a nice set of 19's for this car as soon as I see a design that really suits the vehicle

I should be recieving my C250 CDI either at the end of this month or early next, hopefully time flies quickly and you get yours soon

Thanks for posting pics above

I like the evolution design and have seen similar in real life (Vertini think it was) fitted to a E Class and it looked great

The Vertini Monaco is my personal favourite and will probably be my choice for my c250 coupe. However, it's also the most expensive

Really

I got a price on the Vertinis here (ie. in Australia like the ones I saw on that E Class I spoke of) and they were actually cheap for an aftermarket wheel.

I'll try and get some details on it for you, see if we're talking about the same thing
